sleeping issues

at 33 weeks and 5 days I am miserable. I feel like I never sleep. I have maternity pillow, humidifier, sound machine.. ect. Nothing is helping. I am exhausted and I lay down in bed get comfortable.. I doze off and have to pee... every 30 to 45 minutes. No uti or bladder infections. Just normal pregnancy have to pee. I wake up even if all I do is pee 2 drops. It's driving me crazy! I want so badly to have just like 2 hours of sleep. I feel like this isn't to much to ask. Making matters worse I can be up all day long and not pee as much as I am when I am sleepy.

I know I am in a ranting mood and I hate being negative during such a special time in our life but I am just so sleepy! Any one have suggestions?

Re: sleeping issues

  • So sorry you're also dealing with sleeping issues. Check out the daily symptom thread and you'll see you are certainly not alone as there are lots of us experiencing the same thing. Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot that can be done, in my experience. It's just an annoying part of pregnancy. I've noticed that I will get a good night's rest every 2 or 3 nights of hardly no rest at all (I assume from utter exhaustion). I hope rest finds you soon!!

  • I sleep in a recliner these days. Mostly for heartburn, but I have noticed that leaning back in that way takes the pressure of baby off my bladder. I used to get up 3-4 times per night to pee and now I only get up once. The past week that I have slept in the recliner has been the best sleep of my entire pregnancy. It was DH's idea about a month ago and now I am kicking myself for not doing it right away. I thought I would miss him too much, but he's right: I NEED my sleep - I'm much happier  :)

  • I pee a million times too. I also have a lot of back pain and restless leg really bad. The other night I woke up at midnight and never got back to sleep. It doesn't help that my husband's mattress is 16 years old.
  • I also sleep in a recliner and it has helped so much with me not getting up as many times and with heartburn.
  • thanks you guys. I got about an hour and half today. I saw the doctor.. he said baby is great and head down and riding low. But I am still closed, thank goodness. He said I could take a benadryl or 2 And maybe a massage. Just got a massage and I think I am gonna go lay in the recliner and hope the cats dont jump on me.

I am glad I have some people to talk about this stuff with.

    only 6 weeks left!!
  • I've found that it helps to stop drinking anything at 7pm.. I'll get up maybe twice all night at the most.
  • I take Tylenol pm 3 timed a week to help. That being said I took it last night and am on here at 3:21am, but I did sleep for 3-4 solid hours. My mom said the recliner worked the best for her, the heartburn is what really gets me. I wish you the best, a good night sleep is super underrated.
  • I have hip pain that keeps me up now! I tried Benadryl and it made me sick to my stomach! I think this is Gods way ( or the universe whatever you believe in) to get us ready for restless nights with our newborns! Hang in there!!
  • I read acupuncture can help.. Haven't tried it yet but will be starting next week (36 weeks) to prepare my body for labor.
  • I have been getting up about 3 times a night (35 weeks pregnant).  I try and drink a glass of water one of the times because I get really thirsty at night.  For some reason I am going back to sleep easliy which I am happy about.
