Poop frequency

my LO went from pooping several times a day to pooping every 4 days. I'm worried that she is backed up. She is exclusively BF. Anyone else having the same issue? She's 4 months.

Re: Poop frequency

  • Pedi told me EBF babies can go up to two weeks without a bm! It's completely normal.

Just happened to us this week. Nurse said as long as she is normal/happy and her stomach isn't hard or tender, she should be fine. Also as long as baby is eating normally...my friend's son stopped eating (he was 2 days old) so they knew something was wrong.

Every 4-7 days is normal here! EBF. My son was the same way. If your baby is straining to poop or the poop is hard like peebles get her into the doctor.

My EBF baby stopped pooping several times a day at six weeks old. Now she only poops about once/week. But she eats well and doesn't seem abnormally fussy. The pediatrician does not like that she's not going regularly so she told me to put prune juice in her bottle but this didn't seem to make a difference. The longest she's gone was 10 days w/ no bm so I talked to another pediatrician who told me to give her a baby glycerin suppository to get things moving, then maintain w/ prune, apple, or white grape juice at 4oz per day, if needed. It is frustrating, good luck!
