Stretch marks!!

All my preganacy I managed to keep my stretch marks under control and I was happy I had smooth skin but as I'm reaching the end (39weeks) I have these horrible red Strech marks across my upper belly :( I did everything to prevent them I could and still got them is it just me or how do moms go without getting them at all.

  • I am 39+2 and have one really red under each boob. Not looking forward to going up another size once milk comes in!
  • They seriously happen overnight I feel like. Made it to 36 weeks with just tiny ones on my sides. And now at 39 weeks they are on my lower belly looking like Freddy Kruger attacked. I rub vitamin e oil and stretch mark cream twice a day.
  • I made it to 36 weeks with twins and out of nowhere they are everywhere!! I Put lotion on every day. I think our skin can just only stretch so far...
  • Yea I woke up with them on my stomach and legs and tush. You can't prevent them it comes with being pregnant.
  • I didn't get any with my first but this time at 38 weeks I got 2 on my love handles and a few light ones around my belly button...I hope It doesn't get worse!! I felt so lucky last time!

  • I thought I might be able to avoid them too but around week 37 they started. I have gotten more over the past few weeks and I am overdue now so who knows how many more will show up before baby makes her appearance. I put Shea butter on my belly every day but as others said it doesn't help at the end. Sad that I wasn't somehow spared from them!
  • I only got them with my first and they were never purple. Imagine my surprise when I went into labor thinking I didn't get any and then when i woke up I thought awe crap! They were hiding! I ended up with quite a few white ones on my stomach.

After three pregnancies, I've just learned to live with them. Of course they got a bit darker and moved higher with this pregnancy. As much as I'd like to not have had them at all, I wouldn't trade them for anything.
  • I got stretch marks really early on my breasts, but that was the only nm place I had them. Since then, I have gotten them on my inner thighs, the back of my sides, sides, and all over my tummy. As soon as I started seeing the stretch marks on my chest, I started using Palmers belly butter and a jergens lotion with vitamin e and cocoa butter all over my body. It obciously disnt prevent stretch marks. In the end, if you're meant to get them, there isn't anything you can do to stop them. I think I read somewhere that they are somewhat genetic as well. Not sure how true that is though.
  • I thought I was doing so well too until the other day at 38 weeks I noticed there were some hiding on my under belly. Damn!! I also have one random one on my right boob which is weird since they really haven't grown very much yet. Oh well. Not much you can do.
  • Me too was doing really well, using cream as well just Incase, and then bam the last two weeks I'm covered in them, there's loads and there deep purple and red
  • I got mine early on even though I used lotion or cream every day and everyone in my family assured me they didn't run in our family. They're dark and the worst part is they're puckering. It looks like there are chords under my skin. They itch like hell. I wish I could have the cute pregnant belly everyone else seems to have but instead it looks like the excess skin the Drs have to cut off of the people on My 600-lb Life. :(
  • Same here. Thought I would escape them this time around. I was thinking second babies are great!!! Then bam!!! 36-37 weeks and they are everywhere. So much worse than last time. My husband gets mad at me when I talk about them. He says they will go away and he still thinks I'm beautiful. :) so I guess we are supposed to let it go. It's hard though. Makes me feel better to see all these other people with the same problems.

Made it to the middle of 39 weeks before I saw my first one (the boobs were destroyed by birth control pills years ago).  I see more everyday now--looks like road rash.  :(  I was expecting them much earlier, though, since a growth spurt in my teen years did the same thing to my hips and rear.  Little one is worth it, though!  :)

Mine appeared overnight around 36 weeks after applying an expensive belly butter for months and wearing supportive camisoles every day. I obviously wish I didn't have them, and when I was telling my husband about it, he started kissing the ones on my belly. He didn't say anything but the gesture was pretty powerful. It somehow made everything ok.
  • They will fade. Mine completely disappeared between kids. Second time around they are a lot worse and itch like crazy for me
  • My belly looks like a target and I'm a FTM. Guess they are just battle scars lol
  • I didn't have any at all until about 3 or 4 days after I had the baby and they all appeared! I hated them at first but then I just realized its life and part of being a mother and I was perfectly fine with them after that and this pregnancy too :)
  • I look like I've been mauled by a bear I have so many stretch marks. I honestly don't mind them that much. They are a testimony to my baby. My DH also assures me he doesn't care. My friends have asked to see my stomach, which I refused. I think that's weird.

But the itch does drive me crazy!!! And I'm curious what they'll look like in a few months time. Hoping a lot of them will disappear...
  • Anyone have ideas to help with the itchiness besides just lotion? Mine are itching like crazy now and the lotion doesn't really do much. I also noticed some small bumps forming in the spots I've scratched. I'm trying to not scratch them because they become even more itchy if I do but it's been unbearable!
  • Saddly strech marks are genetic and sometimes unavoidable...usually if your mom or grandmother has them you most likely will too no matter how much lotion you put on. the best thing is after the baby is born to use the lightening creams that reduce them.  good luck ladies!

I use oil from sw basics at night and love how it feels. It's really just avocado and grape seed oil mixed but I'm sure you could use those or olive/coconut anything that feels soothing but doesn't leave you smelling like butter! ;) you could even add a few drops of lavender or whatever you like. But the oil saves me when I'm itching! I've used it during the day and put plastic wrap over my belly and its immediate relief!
  • I've heard tiger balm works wonders for itching. Mine don't itch though...they just sit there taunting me since 36 weeks. I've named one group Draco, and one group Lucius, Malfoy and that's how my SO and I refer to them, lol. Seemed to help.
  • I can absolutely appreciate. I got them in the strangest places that I would not have thought would be so stretchable? Haha. The only places I got them though were where I had not used my cream. lol. I guess that means this stuff works. If you're interested, I've seen this not only seems to prevent, but also reduces signs of stretch marks on myself and others I know who have used it.
