The land that time forgot...otherwise known as WV. Things never change here.
@fridaysdance I lived in Beckley for a couple of years when I was very small. I started talking there, there are bit and pieces of the accent that have never died. I was born in VA, but WVA is the first home I can remember. I love those old mountains.

@LaurenCearfoss@karaelaine1991 who is your dr and where are you delivering? I'm also in the Pgh area and even though it's really late in the game I'm considering switching drs.

I'd rather not give that specific info on the internet, especially this close to my due date, sorry... I will say that it's north of Pittsburgh and I found my OB practice on healthgrades.com. Also, whatever you do, do NOT go to Rita Raymond in the North Side... she was my original OB and she's awful. Among other things, she lied to about the necessity of a test and it almost cost me $300 because it wasn't covered by insurance (thank God I was able to sweet talk them into it when I explained the situation!). I ended up switching to my current doctor after that. Good luck!
FWIW, like @karaelaine1991, I was hesitant to even post in this thread! The Internet is a dangerous place! So just saying I hope no one ever feels offended if any one of us declines to give details about ourselves.
@karaelaine1991 totally understandable! Thanks anyway! Yeah my dr yesterday told me I was stupid because I called worried that I had bleeding and didn't feel any movement for an hour and a half. Good luck to you!

The accent never dies. My husband was raised in the lower part of the state til he was in 4th grade. It's milder the further north you go so his has calmed but the accent comes out a lot when he's tired.
@pghtruelove I'm north of Pittsburgh, not really sure what area you're from, and like others said that's not really information to share online. What I can tell you is that I have multiple friends/co-workers who are pregnant and all who use different doctors in the North Hills and we all like our individual doctors. Good luck!

I've lived in VA for most of my life at this point, we moved here when I was 7ish, and it definitely mostly went away. I ended up choosing a college down in southwestern VA (Radford U) and within a semester it was back, I didn't even realize until I came home for Christmas and people pointed it out. :P Now that I'm back in Richmond and have been for over a decade, it's washed out again, but if I'm tired, emotional or intoxicated, you can definitely hear it, along with a random word or two that just pops out of nowhere. You can take the girl out of WVA.......
@mccall35 where in Hamilton are you? I'm from the north end (bay front area)
I'm right DT, near Copps Colliseum. DH is a medical resident and wanted to live within biking distance of work! Our neighbourhood isn't the greatest, but our building is fabulous!
