iron level

Hi my name is ashley. Am pregnant with my fourth baby n it's a boy. ( finally). The dr told me my iron levels at border line low and they may have to give.me something to bring them up. I know if I take something I won't be able to poop. I drink orange juice now. They said that was good. I need help with food that will boost my levels.

Re: iron level

  • some cereals have higher iron. But I also take an iron supplement, and I don't have any bowel issues since starting on them 2 weeks ago...

    Also, red meat.

I take an iron supplement and I don't have any problems, either.
As far as foods go, red meat and asparagus

ETA - I've been taking a 325mg iron pill a day for about 6 weeks now. No bowel issues. If you get some, you could always add in some benefiber or something to help with that

Shredded mini wheats helped me with my iron levels. I snacked on the in the mornings. Easy and did not back me up.

  • I take iron supplements from my doc. I don't have any bowel issues. I've been taking them for 12 weeks I think now.
  • My dr gave me iron pills with a slow release stool softener in them, as well as an extra stool softener to take. So far so good! You should just ask for them to prescribe you one!
  • I have enjoyed taking Floradix liquid iron supplement in the past with no bowel issues. This pregnancy I was told I didn't need to take extra iron and I ended up severally anemic. I had to have iron infusions to get the levels up. In not sure what level you are at @mrsbucanelli623 but my ferrin level was 2mg (normal is 10-220)
  • Spinach, kale, asparagus... All good sources! I try to get leafy greens in twice a day!
