How many months am I , if I'm 24 weeks tomorrow?

Re: How many months am I , if I'm 24 weeks tomorrow?

  • Six.
I have a cute picture I found with it all separated out woth weeks vs months but I can't figure out how to add a picture with my app...

  • :) this helped me! I was confused as well
  • I don't say I'm six months until after the sixth month, just like I'm not 23 until my 23rd year of life is over... If you are 24 weeks you are about 5.5 months.
  • This is why weeks are so much easier... Though I find older friends and family only want to hear months

At 24 weeks you must be more than 5:5 months ? If not the charts above are wrong?

It's not that you technically ARE 6 months pregnant at 24 weeks, but you are IN your 6th month of pregnancy. For weeks 1-4, you would say you are in your first month of pregnancy. Technically, you are IN your 10th month of being pregnant once you've passed 40 weeks.

You can say the same thing about birthdays. You are in your first year of life until you turn 1, after that, you are in your 2nd year even though you aren't technically called "2 years old."

If you are 22-26 weeks pregnant, then I think it is accurate to say that you are 6 months pregnant. I'll be telling everyone I'm 7 months pregnant once I hit 27 weeks because that's what the chart says :)

  • I just tell people weeks because I have gotten upset with my MIL several times who insists I start new months on the 23rd every month. She will tell everyone her timeline because she's right and I'm wrong :-/
  • The charts aren't wrong but people are using them wrong. According to the charts and the way people use them at "the sixth month", by the same logic that you are six months pregnant before 26 weeks are over, you are one month pregnant in your first week of pregnancy. No one in their right mind would say that. So after 4 weeks you are 1 month. After 26 weeks (not 24 weeks because there aren't an even 4 weeks to every month), you are six months, and beginning your seventh month.
