Baby Names

Need h girl names and possible middle names

We are wanting to name our baby girl a name starting with h after my dh father who passed away. The only girl h name ive found that I like is Helena pronounced he-lay-na. Having a hard time coming up with a middle name for Helena. So I guess I'm looking for suggestions on a middle name for Helena or other H names. We like names that are a little more unusual and don't want to go with something like Haley or Hannah. Any ideas??

Re: Need h girl names and possible middle names

Maybe there's a different spelling to make people say it correctly? Just a suggestion :) good luck

  • We will probably name our first girl Helena (or Halina since we are naming her after her Polish great grandmother...hubs is trying to convince me) and these are the middle names we came up with:

    Helena Joy
    Helena Felicity
    Helena Jane
    Helena Elizabeth
    Helena Danielle
    Helena Susanne
    Helena Michelle
    Helena Christine
    Helena Kristin
    Helena Nicole
    Helena Anne

Disclaimer: A lot of my names are family names to honor specific people. That explains some of the names without "flow".

Thanks for the suggestions! What do you all think of Helena Monet? Dh threw it out there as a suggestion last night and it's sort of growing on me. It might be too out there for some :)

While I love Claude Monet, I don't know if I would use that as a name. Especially when you think of the movie Clueless and what they call a Monet (meaning a girl is attractive from far away, but up close, she's a big old mess lol).

Yeah, unless you were like, related to Monet, I'd find it a bit pretentious of a name.

  • Monet as a middle name is so unique! A girl I went to high school with gave her daughters artist middle names - Jade Dali and Luna Magritte. I thought it was something interesting and different to do.

  • Helena Monet sounds fine.  It's not conventional but it's a middle name that will rarely get used anyway.  If you both agree on it, do it!
  • I really like Helena Monet. It flows well and it's a middle name, so it's ok that it's a little out there. I didn't even think of the Clueless reference and I LOVE that movie, so I think you're fine.

I had a feeling I would get mixed responses about Monet as a middle name. My mom is an artist and we are a pretty artsy family in general so I thought it sort of fit in that way as well. I am going back and forth with it but I do like the way it flows as a name.
  • I like the way it flows and if your family is connected to artists and the arts then it's great.  You do you and your family.  If there are values or bits of your lifestyle/heritage that you want to pass on to your child through their name then I say go for it.

If it fits with your family (the art thing) then totally go for it...it's not my taste personally but that doesn't mean it's bad.
  • I love the name Helen (instead of Helena), but DH shot it down quickly with both pregnancies.
