Has anyone tried Maternity Support Belts??

I am 35 weeks and experiencing a great deal of lower back pain. Prior to pregnancy I had pretty severe lordosis and now with the extra baby weight it has worsened. I work 12 hour shifts and I am in so much pain I can barely make it through the night. Has one tried maternity support belts? If so did they work for you?

Re: Has anyone tried Maternity Support Belts??

  • Hey, I'm Katie... I'm also 35 weeks and FTM. Maternity support belts have totally saved me since late in the 2nd trimester. I've tried the Mini Cradle (loved it, but lost it unfortunately) and Boppy's version. My issue has mostly been hip pain, and I can totally tell the difference when I've been on my feet all day. It doesn't eliminate the pain, but it allows me to do a lot more for a lot longer. I kind of prefer the Mini Cradle because of the hook and eye closures, but the Boppy is nice because it has a hot and cold pack that fits in the back if you need it.

  • I'm using one I found on amazon. Its really just a stretchy piece of fabric. The days I have forgotten it I have noticed an increase in lower back spasms at night. I still have some significant back pain but I do think they help support your back.

Just got one a week ago. It's hardly a miracle cure for back pain, but I do think it takes the edge off.

  • I had one for my twin pregnancy and it was a total lifesaver. It helped a ton at night.
  • I'm using the one from babies r us, and I love it!! Best thing is you can use a coupon!

I got one but that thing makes me so hot!!
  • I'm having twins, so hear you on the horrible back pain. I had really bad pelvic pain too. I just got a cheap one from Walmart, but it really helps. It keeps everything tightened up, and I hurt a ton when I forget to wear it!

  • I have the Prenatal Cradle and am very satisfied with it. (Doc recommended it for me cuz I have a twin pregnancy and work on my feet all day). Sizes tend to run large, so do a little research prior to picking your size. I'm 5' 9" and pre-preg weight of 140, and a small fits me just fine. Good luck!

  • 32 weeks and the belt doesn't take away all of the pain but it makes moving a little more bearable. I am on my feet for hours soit totally helps! Plus its a great way to hold my ill fitting work clothes up!!!
