I'm 37, and a FTM so excited to be a mom, but very nervous. My pregnancy so far (13 weeks 5 days) has been rough. Hyperemesis, lots of missed work, a hospital visit for throwing up blood and dehydration!
I'm hopeful the icky phase ends soon! I'm nervous that the birth will also be complicated. I just want to hold our little boy!
I'm eager to be a mom and excited for the fun part to come. It's a long time coming!
Anyone else older first time moms? On one hand I feel we are ready in terms of career and finances but I'm worried I won't keep up with a busy little boy!
I am 43 and pregnant with our first. I was very nervous in the beginning, partly because I didn't realize I was pregnant until 8 weeks (so I hadn't really been taking care of myself) and partly because of my age. Now I just get nervous when I think I don't feel her moving around as much as I should.
I am excited as well. I've never been married and, once I finally found Mr. Right, thought a baby just wasn't in the cards. Well, god had different plans. Am glad we decided to "just see what happens."
Congrats and welcome! Another FTM here. Also 37. And working my way to the final weeks at 33 weeks already. I did generally OK, really tired a lot this whole time.
Welcome to the board, lots of nice supportive ladies here
I am 38 and a first time mom. I am a little over 6 weeks and had my first ultrasound today (we did IUI) and hopeful that things continue to go well. I had a miscarriage in September. Can't wait for the first trimester to be over!
Welcome and congrats! I am another FTM - coming up on 36 weeks, so entering the home stretch. Based on what I've learned from the great ladies on this board, it seems that we all have our own things that constantly make us nervous/stressed out. I think the best thing you can do is take each day as it comes, take good care of yourself, and trust your doctor's advice. Best wishes to you!
Heya! I'm 37 too and FTM! Will be 38 in October when baby is born! Luckily I was blessed not to have any morning sickness but feel it's getting harder to focus at work. I'd much rather be home preparing the house for baby!
Welcome and congrats. I will be 42 by the time my LO shows up in November. I'm also a FTM. I've been lucky that my pregnancy hasn't been too bad so far, no real MS just a little qweezy no and again. But I'm like you I'm a little worried about a difficult delivery but have no real basis for that concern other than, I haven't done this before... So I'm trying not to concern myself with what ifs and enjoy each milestone as it comes.
FTM @ 35yrs old. So far things are going well. I am 13w today! DNA testing came back negative for genetic disorders. I see a high risk doc on Monday though because of potential clotting issues.
I'm a FTM at 7 weeks yesterday, just turned 37 a month ago. My symptoms have been pretty mild, tired, sore boobs & intermittent nausea, but no vomiting, although my sense of smell is super sharp. Sounds nice, but I had a miscarriage at 6 weeks in February & had practically no symptoms then. So part of me almost wishes they were worse, that way I'd feel like everything was going well. Even though I know this is not necessarily true now, that some women have MS even AFTER they miscarry. I can't imagine. I'm not so worried about the birth myself, I'm more worried about getting there. I wasn't financially in a place to have a baby earlier in my life & felt like I had time. Now I feel like I have no time & that my eggs are past their "Best sold by" date. I do worry that I'll have trouble keeping up, but I also worry more that something will be wrong with the baby. Sorry if that's TMI. I know I'll feel better later on in my pregnancy & hope that I can't stop worrying & enjoy some of it. Best of luck to you & I hope your symptoms ease up soon!
I am not (definately NOT) a first time mom...as I am expecting my 8th child. However, I can say that you shouldn't equate a rough pregnancy start with sickness meaning a bad labor and delivery. I have always, every single pregnancy, had a really rough time with all day morning sickness that lasts WELL beyond that first trimester. I usually start to feel better around 20 ish weeks. I have spent many many nights over the years of pregnancy even sleeping on the bathroom floor because I was vomitting so much it wasn't worth it to leave the bathroom! HOwever...all my labors and deliveries really went marvelous! Hope that helps ease your mind a bit
Lurker, not FTM, not ready to intro yet, but just wanted to say YIKES! re throwing up blood! I hope you're over that now.
And re keeping up with a busy baby, a friend of mine had her first babies when she was in her early 20s and her 3rd when she was in her 40s, and she said the first time round she had more energy and the third time she had more patience. She definitely preferred having more patience than energy!

I am a FTM and 40. I found out 3 days before my wedding that I was 5.5 weeks pregnant. I am now 8 weeks along, and my husband (50 yrs old) and I have our first joint appointment as intro OB and to discuss our family medical history and genetic info. Has anyone had an appointment like this?
I am also FTM at 37. I'm 7 weeks today. First appointment Tuesday the 19th. I'm askin g for the free cell fetal DNA test. Has anyone had it done? I want the results to make a more informed decision about CVS or amnio. I am trying to stay stress free and calm. Praying for healthy pregnancy. I will be 38 and 1/2 when baby is due. My husband is 55 and we will have a grandchild a few months older than our baby. Lol!
FTM here as well. I am 36 now, but could be 37 when the baby is born (due the day before my birthday). We did the harmony test, as I have had 3 miscarriages and there are chromosome issues on my husband's side. Thankfully the results came back low risk and I am now 14 weeks. Due to my husband's chromosome issue we did have to meet with a genetic counselor and go over our family history prior to doing the harmony test. It has been stressful, but I am optomistic that this is our rainbow baby. Best wishes to everyone!
Hi! I'm 38 and, while not technically a FTM, my other daughter is 17 years old, so this FEELS like the first time! People keep asking me "oh, was it like that with your first pregnancy?" And I'm like "I have no idea! I don't remember!"
I found out that I'm pregnant 2 weeks ago. This is my first time and I'm 43 years old and will be 44 when I deliver. It wasn't planned and a total surprise. I thought that that having a child wasn't in God's plan for me. I was even thinking about adopting. I'm 7 weeks. I'm having a hard time wrapping my head around this. I've been to countless showers and celebrations for others and now it's finally my turn. I hope. I pray that all is well with me and the baby. Praying to hear a heartbeat this week.
37 year old FTM here! I hope your icky phase is over soon too and that you have an easy going pregnancy from this point on.
I'm also nervous about the pregnancy and delivery, but pretty confident that keeping up with a busy baby won't be a problem. I refuse to think of myself as an "old mom," we are all strong kick ass women who are still very young in the grand scheme of life.
I saw a pediatric neurologist to go over fetal MRI results today and she told me that she didn't have her first child until she was 41. If anyone knows what the risks are and exactly what they look like, then it's her and she still waited. I think we're all good. ☺
42 and FTM. I am at 20 weeks. So excited! Even with multiple risks RA,AMA, fibroids, I have been having a normal pregnancy so far. I had panorama test that came back low risk as well as 4 ultrasounds so far! The meetings with the genetic counselor and when they explain risks can be a bit scary bit luckily my Dr is also very reassuring! So even if things get a little bumpy in the last trimester I waited a long time to meet my little girl and I know it will all be worth it! It took me a good 15-16 weeks to get to this point of not being freaked out and worried. I want to just enjoy the rest of it. Congrats everyone.
I'm also 37 and having my first, like many had kind of accepted it wasn't going to happen for me. So very excited! 19wks and found out yesterday it's a girl Funny, I live in New Zealand and both my doctor and midwife were like meh it's normal age not old. And when 12 week scan came back very low risk they didn't even mention all the other tests I was expecting because of my age. They definitely do them here, but I guess only if the first one isn't low risk rather than based on age. I'm quite glad not to have to decide after reading about what amnio etc involve!
