How long for Motrin to reduce fever?

Nate was running a low grade fever last night so I gave him Motrin before bed. He was a little warm this morning and by 11:30 his fever was 102. I gave him some Motrin about 45 minutes ago but he still feels really warm to me. How long should it take for the Motrin to kick in?

I'm not sure what's wrong with him. He seems okay, maybe a little more tired than usual, but he is eating fine and just had a slightly loose stool but nothing major. Would teeth cause a 102 fever? I think he might be teething again.

    when DS's two front ones came in, he hit 101.8 with cold symptoms.  Motrin usually works for us within 30 minutes.  maybe take his temp again to see if it has been reduced at all? 

    I don't get too concerned under 102.  Above that, I'd be worried if motrin didn't seem to help.

    anywhere from 30 mins to an hour. In the meantime you could try some home remedies to bring it down. We mixed a ts of vinegar & a ts of room temp water and rubbed it on DS's chest & back.Then you wait for it to dry a little and put clothes back on. That usually knocks it down w/in 15 mins. If w/in an hour the temp is not down I think you're allowed to give tylenol.
