Trying to Get Pregnant

how much do you spend on OPK's a month?

I was seriously thinking of trying them.

  • ^this. Prior to that about $10 for just OPKs.
  • I get Wondfos from Amazon. Fairly cheap and you get a decent amount. Much more cost effective than using the ones you get in the store.

  • I have no idea how to even use them. I got a pack when I ordered TCOYF and my thermometer from Amazon, but haven't even touched them.

I got 100 in January for $20. I'll be ordering more after this cycle.

Edited to add: I didn't ovulate in March and used three a day for about two weeks; otherwise, I would've had enough to not need to order more for another cycle or two.

Edited again to say that you pee in a cup and the follow the directions on the packet.

I know about when I ovulate because I've charted my cycles for a while and am fairly consistent. I start on CD 10 and take 2 a day (morning and after work) until my positives turn negative. That's what works for me. Everyone is different though.

I really never wanted to do tracking but it's taking a while.... it only took 6 momnths with our first and it's inching closer to that each day!

  • Too much :( I've invested in two CB advanced digital OPKs but ordered wondfos for this cycle.

We went to Wal-Mart and for 1 digital OPK it was 40 bucks! Hearing that you only pay 20 for a whole bunch is soooo much better!

  • I have been using digital OPKs which are pretty pricy. I've heard great things about wondfo from Amazon and they are cheap. I'll be trying them next cycle of this one doesn't result in a BFP for me.

@missteacherlady16 do you get more than two days of the flashing with the advanced? I used the last cycle and only got 2. I'm going on 3.5 days now it's driving me mad! I'm starting to panic that I'll never O this cycle

The first cycle I used them, I got 4 flashing smiley faces before I got a solid. The next cycle I got 5 but ran out of sticks to keep testing. Since then, I haven't gotten any flashing smiley faces, only the solid. Not a fan.

I do buy the more pricey digital ones, but because I have a very predictable cycle, I only use like 3-4 sticks per month and can stretch a box out for quite awhile.

It can take a healthy couple a year to conceive.

I suggest you read Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni w.
  • I used the First Response OPK once a day with 2pm pee. Worked fine for me, I'll use it again this cycle. Heard the ClearBlue Advanced can be irritating.

  • Will definitely be switching to Wondfos when I'm out of my CB OPK strips. I think it's sooo crappy that CB doesn't sell refill packs of the strips. Having to buy the digi device every time really stinks. The ease of the digital OPKs just isn't worth the expense, IMHO.

  • I ordered this pack on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0026995KO/ref=oh_aui_bia_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

50 ovulation tests and 20 pregnancy tests for $21.99. And 100 cups to pee in for $5.20.

I am getting pretty good at peeing in cups.

I'll pony up the money for a digital if I get a BFP, but until then, that's kinda silly IMO. You only need a pregnancy test once in a while while you might go through several OPKs a month.
