I really haven't had much caffeine with pregnancy besides Tea every now and then and occasionally coffee (if I get coffee I try to get decaffeinated, because I like the taste). I was at work today and kinda had a craving for a soda, which I don't drink often either, but it was a cherry coke, so I was just wondering is it really bad to drink many sodas, I only drink 1 in a blue moon.
Re: Caffeine
@LadyBlood was the heart problem for you or your baby. Ok, I just felt guilty drinking the soda, so I just quit halfway drinking it. Once I started drinking the Cherry Coke I felt the baby kicking or moving excessively, so I stopped, do you think that is normal?
It's recommended that pregnant women stay below 200mg of caffeine per day. Your soda likely has 20 or 30mgs - nothing to worry about.
I would be more concerned about the chemicals used to decaffeinate the coffee than the caffeine.
The occasional soda isn't going to hurt you. However, I would be worried if you were drinking a Red Bull or a Monster everyday.
My midwife told me not to feel guilty about my diet Coke habit so I just drink it happily.
I usually drink a can of diet dr pepper every other day and everything has been fine, so I say go ahead and indulge in that craving!
