Early labor?

i think i had one contraction on my upper abdomen lasting 16 min. Is this normal? :(

Re: Early labor?

  • I don't think so, but you could be mistaking it. If you're concerned, contact doctor. Could have been a muscle spasm or something though?

  • It is possible (and normal, but not common) to have long lasting contractions that don't let up, called tetanic contractions. I had that for several hours last week (one of them lasted a solid 5 hours with no relief). But it was extremely painful and definitely contractions, not BH.

If it was just that the top of your belly felt harder, it could have been baby's position or something else. Just ask your doctor or midwife about it at your next appointment.
  • Baby could be aiding in pulling on ligaments. This is usually ans pressured stabbing feeling that hurts badly
