Actually, SIDS is not preventable as they don't know what causes it. I find your response to someone saying they lost their child to SIDS completely in bad taste and with no sympathy. I have read everything and done so much research that I didn't need your website sprouted off to me. Bumpers don't "cause" SIDS.::sleep safe and SIDS have been rolled into One thing and they say these things defer rates of SIDS but really, when you research it further the actual impact is unknown. Different states now have different report on guidelines for listing SIDS on a death certificate and some dates don't even allowe MEs to list it anymore. Actually, we live in one state where my daughter passed and her cause Of death was listed as an undetected and Undiagnosable heart condition. Then, at genetic testing at a nationally renowned children's hospital in a neighboring state, they said they studied the autopsy and would have listed SIDS. The most prominent SIDS research is coming from Dr. Kinney who is studying, with very limited funding, abnormalities in the brain that cause the deficit for a SIDS case . Sleep safe is utterly important and I follow all Sleep safe guidelines but safe sleep will NOT prevent SIDS as true SIDS cases are NOT preventable. There are few in the medical community working to change this but as of now it is a lack in medical educators. So, again, thank you for your sympathy...and your education of a grieving mother who unfortunately has had to do more research on SIDS then I would ever wish upon anyone..going through the emotions of having a subsequent baby. I will be leaving pregnancy boards as clearly I can't be a "normal" pregnant mom. So, thank you above for your support.

So, because I quoted something straight off the AAP website I have no sympathy? You have no idea what you are speaking of.
Coming from someone who has also dealt with the effects of SIDS I do, in fact understand the difference between SIDS/suffocation (which was so clearly stated if you read it). So, you also call the AAP and anyone else who refers to bumpers in cribs being dangerous and a "SIDS RISK" unsympathetic? We differ in opinions here however and since you didn't need my "website sprouted off" to you then I also don't need you research, that I have looked over thoroughly, "sprouted off" to me either. I will continue to follow AAP recommendations in regards to SIDS prevention until otherwise reclassified.
I'm very sorry for your loss but you are clearly angry at the wrong person and unfortunately you aren't the only person here who has dealt with the unfortunate circumstances of SIDS. In regards to leaving the boards because you can't be "normal" is all up to you. There are plenty of us loss mommas that do just fine fitting in around here.
