Acupuncture and morning sickness?

hi. Just wondering if anyone has tried acupuncture to help with morning sickness?? Willing to try anything to help with the nauseous all day feeling at the moment.

Re: Acupuncture and morning sickness?

  • I have no idea but I'm right there with you. All of a sudden I'm not just sick in the morning but all day long! I ordered preggie pops so I'm hoping that helps otherwise my doctor said Zofran is still widely used.

  • Hi there. I had severe nausea for about a week and a half (could barely get out of bed, 24/7, miserable!) I tried everything.. Preggie pops, vitamin B6, sea bands (which is a form of acupressure). I finally caved and called my doc bc I could barely do fluids and I have a week worth of work travel coming up. She prescribed Zofran.. I've been on it for 2 days now and have had a huge improvement. Although I wouldn't say my appetite is as good as it was, I'm definitely able to eat simple, bland foods and get fluids. Ideally I'd like to be off the Zofran by the end of my work travel, which puts me at about 9 weeks. But I have friends who had to be on it for their entire pregnancies due to HG and they had no issues with their babies.
It's a tough decision but at this point I felt the lack of fluids and nutrients was doing me more harm than a short term course of Zofran!
Hope you feel better soon, and let me know if the acupuncture works (I think that's the only thing I didn't try!)
  • I love acupuncture! I started going to increase my chances of getting pregnant and now that I am (7 weeks 2 days) it helps with all of my syptoms! I go 2 times a week and I love it. I always feel better when I leave, whether I am nauseous, tired, my back hurts, having mild cramping, or just feeling crummy - I truly believe it helps!!!!
  • I did acupuncture while TTC my son and all throughout my pregnancy with him (even did an acupuncture induction when I was a week and half past my due date) - unfortunately it never helped my naseau, it did really relax me and help me to feel rejuvinated through so I think it's totally worth it.  I have my first appointment for this pregnancy in a week and a half

  • Thank you for sharing your tips, I think I might call for Zofran. This all day hangover feeling is just too much to handle.
  • Thanks ladies!! I will book in for some acupuncture. I'm in Australia and haven't heard of those other things!! But might look them up and talk to my midwife about them.
