My insurance company offers four pumps I have narrowed it to these two. I have used Medela in the past but some of the features on the spectra and its hospital grade not sure if that means much though. Any advice would be great.
Spectra S2, no question. I assume you've still got your old Medela parts/bottles/flanges, so hack the tubes to fit the Spectra and keep your old PISA as a back up or for at work, depending on your needs.
Edited to add that the Spectra is much more gentle. As it says, it suckles, doesn't suck. It's the preferred choice of exclusive pumpers over the PISA.
Thanks @mamaloaf I was leaning toward the Spectra but hesitated because Medela has been around so long and is well known pump. I don't have my old PISA only because I thought my 5 year old was going to be my last. However it is good to know that the old Medela parts can be hacked to work on the Spectra because I looked at my local babies r us and they didn't carry the Spectra or parts so that did worry me if I needed a replacement something in a hurry.
I just got my 2nd Spectra in the mail last week. My insurance covers one pump per pregnancy, so I imagine yours will too! It will be so nice to have one set up upstairs and one downstairs in our house
I'm doing pump research now too. From what I've read one of the biggest differences is that the S2 can't run on battery power. Depending on your situation, that may or may not make the decision for you.
Does your insurance offer the Spectra 9s? Mine does and I'm trying to decide between that and the PISA. The Spectra 9s is rechargeable. Ultimately for me I think it's a decision between what seems to be the better pump (Spectra 9s) and the pump with better/more available accessories (PISA).
