Stroller Question

So I'm obsessively looking at strollers online and I finally narrowed it down to 5 I like but none of them are in the stores around me! I even checked stores near my parents 3 hours away and nothing! Has anyone bought a stroller without actually test driving it around a store? We are looking at the convertible strollers that turn from bassinet to regular stroller without extra attachments (Contour Bliss, JJ Cole Broadway, Combi Catalyst, Peg Perego Book Plus or Phil & Teds Promenade) but I feel like its such a huge risk to buy without test driving. Has anyone purchased a stroller without seeing it before?

Re: Stroller Question

  • Anywhere you could order online that might also have free return shipping?

I would never buy something like a stroller without testing it out first.

  • We tested ours out in the store. I wouldn't buy it without seeing it. You want to be comfortable pushing it and getting baby in and out of it.

  • I will say I got a Combi without being able to test drive it, and sent it back. It is a nice stroller, but maybe more as a secondary not primary. Amazon had free return because it was on my registry, but it was awful trying to get it back in the box!

We did a snap and go for while she was in the car seat which is super light and convenient. That also bought me a lot of time to keep looking at strollers. I'm sorry, I think you need to test it before buying.

  • I definitely want to try it out and not buy it online.  Not only do you want to see how the baby goes in and out of it, but also how heavy it is, how easy it is to open and close, how well the wheels work, if there are any pieces on it that seem like they will break quickly.  I wouldn't get it without trying it out (although I won't buy shoes online either, just so you know).

  • I'm sorry you can't see them in store but thanks for the suggestions
  • Yeah that was kind of how I was feeling. I know in theory something can be perfect but not work for us. I just can't believe not a single big baby store has any of these! Maybe I'll keep looking or open up my search some.
  • @Kyrsta6 - have you checked to see if they have the stroller, but in different color ways? For example, my local Buy Buy Baby carries City Minis but only in black and tan in stock. All other colors are special ordered, but they are the exact same stroller.

Sorry you are having issues, but I would definitely test drive them.

Stroller shopping is BY FAR the worst thing on the registry.

  • Amazon! They are super great with returns if you really cant find anything in store you like.
  • Phil and Ted is great and expands to double if you have another. Trying is nice but getting the right stroller is more important so if you have a limited selection near, I would order online with a liberal return policy. I second Amazon.
  • I bought a stoller three years ago online. Read lots of reviews, as I always do! I settled in the one that had the best features for the most reasonable price. I loved the one I picked! Most places online have good return policies. Don't make life anymore stressful than necessary right now. You're options at home are limited, and that's okay. Work with what you have!
