Trying to Get Pregnant

Charting CM

I have to check internally for CM throughout my cycle. Should I be doing that during my TWW? Should I be worried about CM after I've confirmed ovulation with BBT and OPK?

Re: Charting CM

  • Generally no if you have pretty regular cycles.  However, some women have positive OPKs multiple times throughout their cycle and pinpointing their ovulation date is tricky.  So some like to continue testing CM and OPKs to better gauge their ovulation date.  It sounds like you might not need to check but without seeing your chart or any other information it is hard for me to tell.

  • I agree with PP. If you're confident you've O'ed, it's not really necessary. I also mostly check internally and after confirming O I'll only make note of any CM in my chart if it's visible on TP or in my panties. I also tend to notice a big increase in creamy CM right before my period starts, so that's sometimes helpful in figuring out whether I'm about to start or not.
  • Thanks for the input. I very confident I've o'd already bc of my CM an temps. I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing a step I should be doing.
  • Share your chart, probably we can say something you missed.
  • I snapped a pic bc I don't know how to share it the normal way. Not very tech savy

It definitely looks like you ovulated, so I would say you don't need to test CM.

  • Considering you ovulated on 12 March, normally cm dries up by a week after, you don't need to check on cm, it's no harm to note in ff if there is something relevant so that you can relate to upcoming cycles
Consider reading TCOYF by Toni w. It's a real eye opener.

Some people keep checking CM, some dont. I find it helpful because it also can help you figure out cervical position to be checking regularly throughout your cycle including the luteal phase. but, looking at your chart and how clearly it shows ovulation, it isn't necessary to keep checking it later in your cycle.

Not totally true. It varies from person to person. I tend to dry up for 2 or 3 days after ovulation, then have sticky CM for half the TWW and a whole bunch of creamy CM leading up to my period starting.

But I agree, no need to keep checking. That's a pretty clear ovulation. I might quibble with FF and say you actually O'ed a day later than it thinks, but either way by now you're definitely in the clear.

After ovulation i dont check my CM but if i notice any ill add it to my chart. If you think the lack of CM is a issue then Make sure you are hydrated. For a few months I didn't get the egg white cm but the first month I made a point to stay hydrated I got the right cm. It does help keep the sperm alive. Good luck :)
