Dealing with a head cold?

So I got to spend some time with out of state family this past weekend, which was awesome :) unfortunately a lot of people were sick on my flight home and now I've got something. I saw my doctor today and he recommended Mucinex, but I was wondering if anyone has any additional tips on getting/feeling better that are pregnancy safe.

Thanks!

Re: Dealing with a head cold?

  • Honey lemon ginger tea. Eucalyptus/menthol Chest rub on bottom of feet and wear socks and saline nasal spray..

This is what is saving me atm

  • If Mucinex doesn't work for you, I had a bad cold in March and my OB recommended Sudafed. It worked really well for me! Feel better!

  • Mucinex and neti pot are great. Be sure to drink a lot of fluids too.
  • I have this too from visiting relatives, who were the ones that got me sick, which makes me mad because they kept insisting it was allergies/sinus and were coughing all over. First time sick during pregnancy. I've been eating healthy with lots of vitamin c and homemade chicken broth, taking fermented cod liver oil and drinking lots of tea. On day 3 and I actually feel like I am progressing well. Eucalyptus is great as long as your careful with it during pregnancy. I'm also making myself take some walks each day in the sun as exercise keeps immune system stronger.
  • Use a humidifier in your room. Drink as much water as you can. If it's nice outside, open your windows and ventilate your room. Clean your nose with a saline solution. Take Tylenol if you have a head ache or fever. Drink hot water + lemon + fresh ginger+ honey to boost your immune system.
  • I have one too! I have never in my life been as sick as i have with this pregnancy.... Im trying everything i can but cant habdle most decongestants (they make my heart race and i get light headed) so lots of tea for me!
  • Sudefed worked way better.
  • Mucinex and sudafed. When you take the mucinex drink at least 8 ounces of water with it.

  • Just went through this too, keep moving otherwise it will all settle in. Lots of hot drinks (tea), saline nose spray, Vicks, hot shower with some steam (but not for too long) all helped me! If your nose opens up get as much stuff out as possible!

We have a daily symptoms thread that this would work great under!

This isn't a pregnancy symptom so I figured it wouldn't go there.

Thanks, everyone, for your recommendations :) All I got when I asked my fb pals was "drink ginger tea for an upset tummy" ...you all have been a lot more helpful, to say the least ;)
