My LO is ebf and is three and a half weeks old. The past few days she hasn't been having as many bm's as she usually does and today she hasn't had any yet. Is this normal or do I need to call the pediatrician?
My doctor said that this was completely normal. That I might start to notice a decrease in the times she's poops and that a poop every other day can be normal but it they go 4 days with a poop then it's worth a call. Hope this helps!
Our pediatrician said EBF babies have less poops because breast milk has less residue. Our first daughter went 6 days without poops! As long as your LO is happy and doesn't seem to be uncomfortable you're fine. Dr said 10 days is the longest she's seen, but heard of a case that was ONE MONTH!!! Crazy!
We've been told that after a week you should call the doctor if we're concerned, but as PPs have said ebf babies poo less than bottle fed babies. If she's having at least 6 wet nappies a day then there's no worries.
My baby usually poops 2 times a day every couple of days. But I primarily breast feed and only use formula at night at bedtime. He has plenty of wet diapers, though!
