New here..expecting triplets!

Omg ladies...someone please tell me I will be ok! So my husband an I just found our we are 8w3d with triplets...we had been trying and did one little 50mg round of Clomid that's it!! Lol..anyway during our prenatal appointment the only thing that really caught me off guard was at 20 weeks bedrest..I can't even imagine..so someone with triplets help! Lol we had been trying for almost 2 years so I'd say we are prepared for 1 or maybe 2 but we just laughed an joked about 3.. Surprise surprise!

Re: New here..expecting triplets!

  • No first hand advice here, but just wanted to say congrats! I'm sure it's scary but how exciting! Is the 20 week bed rest just standard with triplets?
  • I just wanted to send along a little encouragement!  My husband and I have two year old triplets...two boys and a girl.  Make sure to get plenty of rest during the pregnancy and don't be afraid to take the help of family and good friends.  I also urge you to connect with a local triplet organization for support.  Having triplets is very busy but a wonderful experience.  Best wishes!

  • I have 12 mo old triplet boys and a 28 mo old dd.
    It's fun!
    Went to 29w5d. Each boy was 3.5# 16-17" & are now 25-26#, 31"
It's risky for sure. Did an 1-2 hrs laying down every day after 18 wks.
Dilated to 2.5 at 26 wks. Hospital for 11 days then home, modified activity.

Went for routine appt at 29w5d and they told me I'd dilated to 6.5. C that night

  • Congratulations!  I have no experience personally with triplets, but I know a girl who went to 32w6d with her triplets.  She worked till she was 25 weeks.  No bed rest till the week before they were born when she came down with Pre e.... so I wouldn't assume you would automatically have to go on bed rest at 20 weeks!  Good luck!

  • well as you are probably figuring out after the dust settled, it's no longer a LOL but an ohhhh crap.. what are we going to do thing
You are going to need so much emotional and physical help it's going to drive you both insane. Find it now and try to make your lives easy by getting ALL your ducks in a row now so it's routine time as soon as they pop out or well I should say, get home. There will be bed rest and lots of hospital time. Which is only the beginning of a long first year. After the first year it gets sooooo much easier.

Good luck and God Bless You

  • Congrats!

I have seven year old BBB triplets, but I still vividly remember the feeling from when we found out. :) It only took about, oh, five years for the surreal feeling to wear off. :)

  • Congrats! I am 28 weeks and 6 days pregnant with quads. I was never put on bedrest with this pregnancy, but I do take it easy and stay home. They told me to expect bedrest by 20 weeks and then decided when I hit that time, that I was doing ok. I was previously pregnant with triplets and at 20 weeks, I went in to premature labor and ended up losing them at at 22 weeks, 5 days. I was doing a lot and not listening to my body. My point is not to scare you, but just to tell you to take it easy and listen to your doctors and your body. Sometimes we think can do it all, and we can't. Every pregnancy is different and i know triplet mommas that ran throughout their entire pregnancy and worked the entire time and had them at 35+ weeks. So you can do this! I'm praying for you!
  • Congratulations!! I only (ha ha ) have twins, but it sure does get easier after 1 year. Get all of the help lined up, and always accept all help you can get!

And take naps when people are over to help - I was driving myself nuts trying to "visit" with our help - NO - go nap!!! That is the best 20/20 hindsight advice I can give you. I finally started accepting help so I could nap and it was life changing.

  • 5mo (3mo adjusted) quads. Hang in there. You don't have to go on bed rest. I never had official bedrest- just coach potato. If you Have any questions- you can message me.
  • I'm 20w3d pregnant with all girl triplets! Congrats on your news! It's absolutely terrifying and exciting and...did I say terrifying? My cervix is a little shorter than my doc would like so I'm on modified bed rest BC I too thought I could do it all. Slow down and enjoy your babies. I take it one day at a time BC that's really all the control I have. Drink lots and lots of water and enjoy it!!!

Hello ladies!  I had my first sonogram today at 8.5 weeks and there are triplets!  No IVF or anything, just magic!!! We're still in shock!  Saw all of their little hearts beating.  I'm excited but scared to death and not sure when to tell my office!  Trying to stay calm for the time being! How do you decide whether or not it's more cost effective to stay home or work?  Not sure if I'm going to be able to do it all!
  • I am new here as well but 23 weeks with triplets. No bed rest so far. The only thing I have experienced is carpal tunnel syndrome in my hands due to swelling. My hands are pretty much numb all day and ache at night. It's a small price to pay for the reward at the end. Good luck to you!
  • Oh how exciting!  I heard 24 weeks is when you're in the 'safe zone' for triplets.  I'm only at 10 weeks and feeling terrified, hoping they'll all stay put!  Any advice you can give would be great...I'm a bit of a nervous wreck over here :)
  • Hi Everyone!

Just found out today 6w4d that we are pregnant with triplets!!! OH MY!  We did IVF and put in 2 embryos.  We were bracing ourselves for twins but were not expecting 3 at all.  One of the embryos split.  Luckily, it looks like each of the identical twins have their own sac which is great news.  Still in shock.  I guess we are going to have to look at buying a bigger car and expect an earlier due date.  A little concerned about bed rest, but I will take your advice and be easy on myself to try to save myself from that.

    Thanks!
  • Look at all of these new triplet mamas! Wow! Congrats to you all. How exciting.

  • I'm pregnant with twins so I'm just here to offer some hugs and support. I think you can do this, and also that it's going to take a while for the shock to wear off. I know I'm still in shock over twins! I'm a first-time mom, so I'm not even sure what to expect. Being able to vent on forums like this helps though. Please use us as a sounding board!
