Babymoon within 4 hours drive of NYC/Northern NJ?

We are looking to go on a babymoon and go memorial day weekend due to vacation schedule - any ideas?

Looking for something around $250-300/nt.  King size beds only. :)

Shopping, fine dining, spa, sights are okay but not big museum people.

All ideas welcome! I went to Newport, RI last year, so looking for something different than that.

  • Boston, Atlantic City, White Mountains, Casinos in CT, lake George, Burlington VT. I'm from New England so that's all I got for now. Not too sure about south of AC lol!

  • Does anyone know if the casinos in CT are smoke free? Use to love AC but most of the good resort hotels still smell like smoke on the casino floor. can't handle that.

  • I know that Foxwoods has a smoke free casino and smoke free gaming tables but I believe for the most you can smoke a lot of places in there. I went to Mohegan a couple weeks ago with my husband and the smoke drove me crazy.
  • Thanks - crossing that off the list for now! :)

  • One of our favorite places to go is up the White Mountains a place called Woodstock, NH or even North Conway. My in-laws own a condo up there and its so pretty and relaxing. Not sure what kind of a trip your looking for. Doesn't have much fine dining or anything, but if your looking for relaxing might be worth checking out. Lots of little shops and what not especially in North Conway area!
  • The Lakes Region in NH Is beautiful but it's more than 4 hours. What about a trip to Cape Cod? You can find reasonable rates in many of the towns.
  • I love the spa at Norwich Inn in CT. I also love Mohonk Mountain House, a spa, ton to do, beautiful grounds, good food, and afternoon tea and cookies, no one will look twice at the pregnant lady getting a second cookie :) The last thought, but not an actual getaway is the best meal of my life was at Blue Hill at Stone Barns.
  • I'm very partial to the Hudson Valley - especially Rhinebeck. Beautiful nature surrounds you, great food options, and not a whole lot of people, which makes for a relaxing time :)
  • Here are some ideas for a babymoon getaway close to NYC:

    1)
Phoenicia, NY: This town has a small main street
with coffee shops, boutiques, and occasional art festivals. You can also go
tubing and do some light hiking.

    2)
Gloucester, MA: This is an old-timey fishing
village with a lively art scene and crop of gourmet eateries. The Lighthouse
Beach is a secluded place to do some sunbathing.

    3)
Bear Mountain, NY: You can do some light hiking
at this state park or have a picnic next to a lake.

    4)
North Fork, L.I.: Great place for foodies who
are into the locavore movement. For live music and fresh seafood, check out
    Billy’s by the Bay

    5)
New London, CT: This is a cute seaport town just
a ferry ride away from Block Island. Be sure to check out the art scene at the Hygienic
    Art Center.

    6)
Sea Girt, NJ: This town offers dazzling beaches
and romantic restaurants in an idyllic setting.

    7)
Hudson, NY: Hudson has a great art scene. If you
plan to go, book your room as soon as possible—Hotels and Airbnb reservations
    fill up fast

    8)
Rehoboth Beach, DE: The town’s old-fashioned
charm, white-sand beaches, boardwalk, and historic cottages makes this a lovely
    destination

  • Thanks, everyone.  I'm considering Lake George.  Anyone ever stay at the Holiday Inn there?

  • I live in Mystic, CT. Very charming little town with lots of shopping, great restaurants and an Aquarium & a Seaport.

We plan on doing Philly. I thought about doing a weekend, but we might just make a day of it as it's only an hour from us.

  • Never stayed at the holiday inn, but I love lake George! There is the Sagamore for a splurge.
  • Lake George is really nice, you can rent cottages there pretty cheap too! I second Mystic, CT and Gloucester, MA as well, both charming towns. My grandma lives in Ogunquit, ME and I have been going there since I was a baby, it's my second home and I can't even tell you how much I love it. Charming, right on the ocean, great seafood, etc. I'll be there in July and I can't wait!
  • I've stayed at the Sagamore - best views, great food, rooms are ehh and SO expensive. Thanks for the advice all!
