Pregnant after IF

Progesterone Question

Hi ladies,

I am currently 12 weeks pregnant after a FET in February.  I am still with my RE because my progesterone level is not where it should be.  I am taking pills, last week he lowered me to one pill a day and then after 3 days bumped me back up to 2 pills twice day -and now I'm worried.

I don't have what my exact numbers are - I did bloodwork this morning so I will ask when I get the call.  The nurse said it happens some times - just wondering if anyone has had any experience like this?

Thanks!

It does seem like they fluctuate a bit, but I've honestly never experienced progesterone supplements on the form of pills, I thought it was always pio or crinone/endometrium.

I was on PIO to start and he switched me to pills about 3 weeks ago.

Estrace? I did Progesteone until I was like 14 weeks. My ob wanted to make sure all was ok before stopping it.

I don't know the details, but I'd heard that certain supplemental progesterone meds can't be traced in blood draws...so I've seen where ladies see a drop in their measured levels, but that's due to the type of medicine they took - in reality, the P levels were probably fine.

And by now your placenta should be taking over.  My RE stopped tracking my P after 6 weeks, switched me from PIO to Endometrium, and then switched me to the pills at around 9 weeks - never even checking my levels after the first couple of betas.  SO I wouldn't worry too much about it.  If your ultrasounds look good, that's a better indicator at this point.

    Me 33, DH 37 -- TTC since Jan'12 -- Low AMH (0.78) & endo, SA w/ low motility
    IUI's 1-3 = BFN, IVF converted to IUI 4/13 = BFN
    IVF 1.2: 8R 6M 4F -- 2 blastocysts frozen, FET 8/15 = BFP!!
    Beta #s = 445;1,098; 9,545  -- EDD 5/2 -- Team Pink!

Yeah ditto what @gsancho said. They stopped tracking me pretty early. Like after the third beta.

    Thanks ladies!

@Justone13  I'm on prometrium.  The doc said sometimes it just takes a little longer for the placenta to take over but all my ultrasounds do look good.  They lowered my dose yesterday and I go back for blood on Thursday.

@gsancho - I'm going to look into that for the medicine i'm on.

So this is the only RE I've ever been to - is it not normal for him to still be doing blood draws at this point?  I'll be 13 weeks on Saturday.

Yeah, that's not normal to do that many blood draws.  In some ways it's nice b/c you're informed on every little thing....but then it can cause unnecessary stress if something looks outside the norm.

My RE tested Estrogen a lot longer than other REs and freaked me out when my results were all over the place and they kept changing my meds...but the more I talked to people, the more I realized most REs don't even test Estrogen past the first beta.  So it gave me a little comfort knowing that it wasn't as crucial to read into the numbers at that point, like I was thinking.

I have read that oral progesterone is not always the best for everyone. Can you ask if you can do some injections or crinone?
