So in the Worst Names I've Heard All Year thread, someone mentioned the name "Candida" which, of course, is a type of yeast...
BUT if it didn't carry that meaning, it might have been a decent name.
Others that come to mind: Listeria, Cholera...
And go.

DH and I used to joke that we'd call our baby Taenia, Ascaris or Fasciola - after types of parasites!
Melaena/Melena is another one we used to joke about - it's basically poo that has digested blood in it which is black, tarry and particularly offensive to the nose.

*this* thread is another reason that name spelling matters. You might think you're doing a cool twist on the name Melaina (or whatever the traditional spelling is), but your cutesy spelling is a medical term used to describe black poop due to digested blood
