Losing my appetite while eating?

Every time I eat it starts off really good but after a few bites I lose my appetite and if I keep eating I get really nauseous.. Does anyone know how I can stop this? Because I'm really hungry lol

Re: Losing my appetite while eating?

  • I'm feeling pretty much the same. It really takes me a while to figure out what sounds good enough to eat. I get this done feeling like if I take another bite I will end up vomiting. I just stop at that point and eat a snack a little later.

Same thing happens to me! I just have to eat only a little at a time. A banana, or some toast. And when I'm not particularly hungry, I try to make myself eat (if I'm not nauseous), so that I don't get drastically hungry later. Or even try a Boost of Ensure drink-- just a small can or bottle has 300 calories or so, and can be a great substitute if you can't eat
Baby number 1 on the way!

  • I guess I should try Ensures . I heard they're really good
  • So glad I'm not the only one. It's really hard to limit the amount when I'm so hungry. But I have to eat a little at a time.
  • Protein shakes and just maybe some small salty snacks or just peanut butter and crackers but just when you snack only have a few chips or a few peanut butter crackers or small things to settle your stomach..and you don't have the same thing for too long...and you won't lose your appetite because that's been wants happening to me...
  • I have been living on cheese sandwiches, literally bread, mayo and cheese. I cut it into 4 and I have a fourth every hour or so. If I eat too much, I get super sick. So everything I eat I only eat a 4th of it.
  • The story of my life the last few weeks. I'm 10 weeks 1 day and me and hubbies went to lunch today an I thought I was in the clear with little to nausea this morning only to get to the restaurant and pick at me food. I have found that if I have a craving and I can eat I eat when I can. My hubs has made multiple remarks about just being happy when I have been able to eat. I'm a southern cooking queen and I've been craving chicken and dumplings and I finally mustered up the energy to get in the kitchen and them had to wait 2 hours before I felt up to eating anything! The joy and pains of pregnancy. I'm just now embracing it!
  • Been this way the past several days. Made a big mistake today and tried to scarf down spaghetti, because I was starving and I hoped I would get it down before my body would notice. Don't know what I was thinking! I spent the next 45 minutes at the restaurant trying to keep it down while I waited for everyone else to finish. I absolutely love pasta, but nothing seems to sit right anymore.. And I've certainly learned my lesson about shoveling things down, no matter how good it is!
  • The only thing that makes me feel better in the morning are Chick-Fil-A chicken egg and cheese bagels lol I have the best husband in the world because he bought 10 of them and they are in the fridge :)
  • I have this same problem I have discovered for the last 2 days all I can eat is celery! With a little home made French onion dip if I'm lucky and not feeling too nauseous!
  • Sounds funny, but baby food.... It's great. Easy to get down, fruits and/or veggies.... Plus really portable.
  • Sitting here with a lunch in front of me and can't bring myself to take a bite of anything even the pop is making me nauseous
  • Sounds like I'm not the only one who cannot stand meat right now. One wif of a chicken breast and my appitite is GONE, sneak it on a pizza. One bit and I gag... I think I'll do what @KatieSetler suggested and get some ensure. Mama needs protein.
  • Happens to me, every single time I try eating. Has been going on about two weeks now -- (I'm 9+4). I was prescribed some nausea medicine (not zofran) and it seems to help about thirty minutes later. I heard it gets better around week ten, keep your head up! : )
  • I have this same problem!!! I am a plus sized lady too so it's definitely different for me to not really be eating. Even my fiancé is always like "you're done already" and like you said you're hungry all the time I feel like that too! But the nausea is terrible!
  • Yes! Nothing ever sounds good and when something finally does I'm done after three bites. Seems to be a fine line between hungry and full and nauseated. Didn't experience this the first go round. Glad I'm not the only one!
  • Im the same! At first im all about food and then its nasty and i feel full. 20mins later im starving like i never ate before but take a few bites and im done. I stay hungry now....
  • Glad to found out that I'm not alone in this..
  • Salted crackers seem to be the only thing i can keep eating. Iv almost ate the hole box.
  • I haven't really had that, but I did notice during this pregnancy that I get full within a couple of bites and if I even attempt to out another piece in my mouth I'll get nauseous. It's strange too because then 15 minutes later I'm hungry and my stomach starts growling like I haven't eaten in hours.

  • I'm in the same boat! The more bland something is the better. I have a lot of vanilla protein shakes and some protein bars. Just eat smaller stuff more frequently. Listen to your body if it's upset when you start to eat something don't eat it anymore. I'm crossing my fingers that all of us get some relief in the 2nd trimester!
  • The other night, I had a bit of my husband's chicken parm at a restaurant (I had chicken soup) and said 'mmm' and DH said "that's the first time I've seen you enjoy food in three weeks!" Of course, after the one bite, I was done.
Weirdly, I'm very into salad. Italian dressing is appealing to me, although only sometimes. I've mostly been eating cheese sticks and English muffins and rice cakes! Everything else, I try to make myself eat, but not always successfully
  • Yes I have the same problem too after a few bites I feel sick ..I'm hoping my appetite comes back
  • I have been exactly the same and am only
Managing a few Mouthfuls before feeling nauseous which often results in me not being able to finish a mouthful.
My husband has said I may be the only
Pregnant women who loses wait but I am just snacking what I fancy and when I fancy it.
Nice to know it's not just me
