Baby Breath/Movement Monitor for Crib

I'm about to have a csection delivery at 32 weeks for my twins due to placenta issues. I really want to get a breathing/Movement Monitor for the crib. Can anyone give me suggestions and reviews on monitors that they have used?
Thank you!

Re: Baby Breath/Movement Monitor for Crib

  • We have the angel care monitor with the motion sensor. It gave us wonderful piece of mind.

Thinking about you and your kids. Praying for a smooth delivery. Good luck mama.

  • Thank you for your reply. Do you have the one with the video? Or the standard one? Was thinking about getting that brand but not sure which type to get (video or no video).
  • I had an angel care with no video for DD. I kinda like the video ones but be sure whatever one you get has a password to access it. I was reading an article online the other day about people hacking them.
  • We have angelcare, the other ones (one was omiron) apparently is pretty sensitive and is effected by air con, fan, open window, loud noises? That was on the reviews.

No video jut sound, I opted not to get the video as I noticed with my friends they became almost obsessed with watching the baby 24/7 and never really got a break whilst bub was sleeping. Maybe that's just motherhood but it's something I want to try to avoid :)
  • We have the video. I like being able to take a peek at the kiddo. The battery life on the parent unit is not great but the motion and video features are pretty good.

  • I don't have a motion detector but love my video monitor. I Can tell dd is breathing bc she has changed positions. It also helps to determine in the middle of the night if she is just fussing or truly awake. I would give up the sound before the video. I have a Motorola.

There are ways around those. If you know someone tech savvy they could install one that can not be hacked . it's kind of like a closed circuit TV.
  • My DH would not get a normal monitor bc he's an IT guy and he worries about hackers ... We are getting a wifi Foscam.
  • Thank you so much for your replies. They have helped a lot. Hoodoll82 - I will look into that. Thank u

I think the hacking applied to ones run over the internet. Like that you could use a smart phone or tablet to monitor them.

It's actually the opposite according my husband the IT guy. Hacking of a normal monitor just entails someone hooking into the same radio frequency as the monitor, which is easy I guess? Obviously a wifi one is hackable too but you can encrypt or set a password for your wifi network so that's why he's feeling more secure about that method. You are right, the wifi ones can be monitor via tablet or smartphone - in fact that's how I think our works, there will be an app to download plus a password so we can use our phones instead of a single monitor and it's with us as long as we have our phones.

He's paranoid someone will use the monitor to scope out our house to break in. We live in a town of 10000 people! It also feels a teensy bit too high tech for me, but told him he could pick the monitor so this is what I get lol ;)
  • @hoodoll82 that actually sounds kinda badass. Now I want one.
