vaginal Bleeding

This is my first post here, and I've always been looking at everyone else's :)
at 6 weeks, 25 weeks, and now 31 weeks I've had vaginal bleeding. Not something any of us want to see. Baby is fine. But this is driving me nuts. I have to be at the hospital all weekend..ultrasound looks great. High risk specialist said it may be leaking from my placenta, possible abnormality. Can anyobe
relate to this?

My heart dropped when I read the thread title, especially this late in the game. Glad to hear that your check ups have been positive. I had bleeding(like a lot) in my first and second trimesters thanks to an SCH. It was horrifying, I did end up finding humor in the fact that I still ended up needing pads...and had a bloody mess on my hands whith some frequency. I hated the extended hospital stays but it was worth it to make sure my baby was still viable. Good luck and I hope any issues resolve soon, hopefully the abnormality you mention ends up being minor!

  • I know a personal question, but has it been after sex? I spot/bleed after sex, asked my ob she said it can be normal.
  • It actually has not been after sex, the high risk specialist said it just happens. Now being it was the 3rd time, I'm nervous the rest of this pregnancy.

I had bleeding at 25 weeks and my ultrasound came back normal too. They still have no clue what caused the bleeding. They told me the same thing that bleeding just happens sometimes.
  • OP I'm actually in the hospital right now for the same thing...32 and 4 with inexplicable bleeding. Started yesterday morning and tapered off after an hour or so. Spent all day yesterday getting scanned, swabbed, and pricked. They still aren't really sure what the cause was but said it's more important to identify what it's not (placenta detaching or baby in distress). My doc had me admitted for the night for monitoring since I also have a 1.4 cm cervix and they wanted to rule out pre-term labor. I will write you back if I hear anything more! Hang in there!
  • Good luck with everything! I was given the steroid shots the past 2 days...Lucky us! But as long as our babies/selves are okay that's all that matters :)
  • Hey hun, same here, they kept me for another night so that I could get the steroids...pain in the ass, literally!

No really official ruling, doc is thinking a ruptured blood vessel, but nothing more serious than that.

But you're absolutely right. As long as the LOs are safe, what more can you ask for?

Now if I can talk my hubby off the ledge, that'd be great!
  • I went in for spotting at 9 weeks, 21 weeks, and most recently at 29w4d. They have no clue why I have had significant spotting episodes. (I've had more frequent smaller spotting episodes after BMs but as long as it wasnt bright red or more than a panty liner, my doctor didn't require me to be seen.)
  • So interesting, I guess as long as it's not diagnosed as a major problem placenta abruption etc, it's something that just happens with some women. Hopefully no more of these episodes happen!
