Hi ladies,

As a lot of you know I'm 31 weeks with fraternal twins. I had an ultrasound today and twin b ( our little girl) has not grown that much since our last ultrasound 3 weeks ago. The chunky boy is 3lbs 14 oz and she is 3lbs 3 oz. I feel that is a good weight for a baby of this age but I'm a bit concerned that she hasn't grown that much since the last ultrasound ( I can't remember exactly how much she weighed at the last apt) my question is, has anyone else had a baby that has had a stage where it hasn't grown vey much between apts, or any other twins Mammas experience something similar? I know singletons aren't monitored as much but I just need a little peace of mine, I'm a little bit worried. Thanks guys

I'm a third time mom and have only carried one at a time but in my experience the weights you get at ultrasounds are not the most accurate. If your doctor isn't worried then I would try really hard not to get worried either. Sorry I'm not more help.

The weights are not accurate all the time. Also remember that a lot of twins come out with huge weight differences. It's hard not to worry when you are given numbers but I assure you your doc would let you know if he was worried about twin to twin transfusion syndrome or any other problem that their weight would vary greatly from the other twin. hang in there.

My sister's twins (she also had fraternal girl and boy), the girl also was measuring less around this time frame. She was born actually weighing less, too, but the doctors didn't have any concerns as she was going along and my auntie-lets came out just fine when all was said and done.

My siblings are twins and if I remember correctly, when they were born there were a good 8oz between my sister's weight and my brother's weight. Unfortunately I don't know what weight they were during pregnancy ultrasounds (I was 8 at the time so I probably was not informed about it, haha), but I do know that when they were born they were both very healthy despite the weight difference. In fact, at the time, they were the second biggest twins in the history of that hospital!

Thanks ladies. I'm not so much concerned about the direct comparison between the two babies weights, I'm more concerned at the lack of her growth from the last ultrasound I had 3 weeks ago.

I am 31 weeks with fraternal boy/girl twins. At my 29 week ultrasound they were 3.2lbs and 2.14lbs they have always been on the smaller side. They didn't seemed worried. They checked the cord blood flow and fluid surrounding them and said everything looks fine. My doctor doesn't seem concerned either. I think as long as they continue to grow then they are happy. She said she would only be concerned if they started measuring significantly different or they stopped growing.

I am currently 31w pregnant with di/di girls and had an us appointment yesterday. Twin A was 3lb 1oz and twin B was 3lb 13oz. My doctor said they are growing good but is sending me to a Perinatologist that specializes in ultra sounds to get a more accurate reading. She didn't seem too worried but it still makes me worried! I think she is sending me mainly because the girls have switched which one was heavier(twin a was heavier 2 weeks ago and now twin b is much heavier).

This is my exact situation. Girl was bigger last time too, our weights seem to be almost the same too!! We are totally twinning hahaha! My OB is the head of obstetrics at the hospital so I'm not going to see a specialist but he wants to now monitor me once a week. I guess to see if she is growing, he didn't seem too concerned but I always feel like the doctors are withholding information, everything has been smooth sailing for me up to this point- how about you? Have you had any other issues?

@Emilywooddesign Totally twinning Yes everything has been great up until this last appointment. I'm sure everything is fine but now I am going to have an uneasy feeling until next week!

Fingers crossed for 2 healthy little girls for us! Do you know much much she weighed at your last ultrasound? My husband said ours was 2lbs 6oz 3 weeks ago. Keep me posted on your doctors apt!

@Emilywooddesign twin a was 2lb 14oz 2 weeks ago now 3lbs 1 oz. I'm wishing the best for the both of us I'll keep you updated and you do the same!

Hello I'm in the same 2 weeks ago my baby boy was 2lb 14oz and the girl 2 lb and 7oz , I heard that twins never grow the same , my doc said everything it's ok Idk

Wishing you good luck too! I understand that twins don't grow the same, they are 2 different babies ( especially fraternal) just hoping mine was just slow the last few weeks and will pack on some weight at a good rate. This twin business is stressful!
