I cant wait till I have an obvious baby bump... This in between stage of bloating/bump is driving me crazy nothing fits right and I feel like I look like I've been hitting the doughnuts hard. Anyone else out there feeling a little uncomfortable/self concious in their own skin?

Re: Self Conscious

  • Yes!! Super uncomfortable!!! Barely any of my clothes fit, my hips are already wider, and I've gone up almost 3 cup sizes!!! I've only gained a couple pounds but I just feel gross!

  • I am! I haven't really gained a lot of weight but feel like I'm supposed to hide my bloat? Bump or people will comment. So I wear a light jacket so I can hide under it when I work. I don't want people commenting because I'm not ready to tell strangers and most of my coworkers yet. :/ it's frustrating
  • Yes. We haven't told anyone so I feel like it's just awkward. Luckily my boobs are so huge that they are kind of acting like a waterfall ledge for my shirts. I know soon enough it will be a legit bump and I can't wait.
  • Yes. Especially before I went public on Facebook. My under-belly maternity pants cut into my belly fat and give me a "B" belly, so I look more fat than pregnant right now. Can't wait to round out a bit.

  • I was just talking to my friend about how this is the thick stage, and while some things are easier like this, you don't get to have the cute bump! I keep reminding myself how much easier it is to run without the big bump, and then there are other related situations like that which are better without a bump:

    - I can still sleep on my belly (not intentionally), and it doesn't wake me up.
    - I can still lay down on the floor with DD to play.
    - I can turn sideways between small spaces and still fit through (There will be a time when forward facing you is narrower than sideways you!)
    - I can do most household chores without wearing all of the stuff on my belly (cleaner, water, soaps, etc.).
    - I can reach into the washer with ease.
    - Romantic time with DH is way more comfortable now than it is with a bump!

I had a hard time emotionally with this stage when I was pregnant with DD. I just felt totally gross. This time around, it's easier to know how temporary it'll be. I try to overwhelm my self-conscious side with all of the pros of not having a bump yet! I hope you can find some good reminders, too!

  • I am at this stage right now. I am noticing that my face, thighs and butt are a bit "puffier" than usual. I have always been quite thin and this weight gain is starting to get the best of me. I know it is for a great reason, but it is still tricky to handle. My mother in law and I ALWAYS bug each other and lately she has really been using the fat jokes, which are not helping me feel any better about things. I know she is just trying to be funny, but I wish she would quit.
  • Yoga pants are my best friend. It's all I'm wearing.
