Hi!! Is anyone else struggling with weight gain? I will be 15 wks tomorrow and have gained almost 10lbs already. This is my first preganacy and I am a little worried about how much I have gained, so far. Does anyone know if this is ok?
I'm struggling with gaining too much too. I probably gained 30-35lbs with my girls. I'm really hard on myself about eating, so I'm trying not to stress out about it. I'm trying to make healthy choices, but I have a history of not making good decisions with food, so.... I'm trying to not be hard on myself regarding any gain. Within reason of course.
I think it's okay. There are three trimesters and you should probably getting roughly 30 pounds depending on your pre pregnancy size so 10 pounds each trimester would be fine. I gained almost 40 pounds with all 3 of my babies but it was healthy weight gain, I didn't go crazy with junk food, so I was back in my skinny jeans 6 weeks after having the babies. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just worried about making healthy baby, making healthy food choices and try to exercise everyday even if its just a brisk walk.
I've a gained 7-8lbs by 14 weeks and my doctor said (only when I asked about it), "you're pregnant, you're going to gain weight! As long as you feel you're eating a balanced diet, don't worry about it." I gained 49 lbs with my daughter and ate very healthy. There are some things that are out of our control, just do the best you can.

I think you're okay! I'm actually having the opposite problem Can't gain even 1lb and I'm at 14 weeks. But our bodies know what to do! As long as you're making good decisions about eating and exercise, trust your body! And your doctor
I'm having the opposite problem as well, this is the first time I've ever had an issue gaining weight. If I ate like I am now before pregnancy I'd be packing on the pounds like crazy! And get I am down 10lbs!
well...just think women's bodies aren't made to look fantastic in bikinis they are meant to bear children and provide comfort for the child after birth. I've gained 10lbs too and trying not to let it get to me (easier said than done). Stay off the scale and just get weighed at your doc appointments. Try to eat healthy and regularly but don't feel guilty for indulging. Try some moderate exercise (I still have to do this because I've been so lazy) and last but least remember body growing = healthy baby! Pregnancy is not a time to feel self-concious about weight. After all, you are growing a new soul inside you. You're not fat you're pregnant!
I'm almost 15 weeks as well and gained 10 lbs so far, but I blame it on vacation mostly and then all I ate when I got back for a week was junk food! Hoping I can get myself into better eating habits again.
I've gained so much with my first pregnancy !! And this pregnancy so far 10 lbs at 13 weeks ! Mostly because I quit smoking and eating instead of smoking ! Haha
It all depends if you were under weight, over weight, or at a healthy weight when you got pregnant. 15-25 lbs is ideal for average weight people. I'm 15 weeks and have only gained 3lbs by avoiding junk foods and focusing on healthy eating.
10 lbs at 14 weeks isn't bad. You're more than a third the way though your pregnancy and you've gained about one third the recommended amount of weight . . . As long as it's baby (and all related) and not because you're yaubg pregnancy as an excuse to eat whatever's in sight (the mistake I made with my son), don't worry!
I am on the same boat! Almost 14 weeks and have only gained 2 pounds eat a balanced diet this is also my first pregnancy, into the 2nd and 3rd trimester I'm sure that's where I'll start to gain more weight!
My doctor told me that I should gain 5 pounds during first trimester and a pound per week starting second trimester. I'm 13 weeks and I have gained 8 pounds so I'm really only over 3 pounds what she said which isn't bad as long as I keep it one pound a week from here on out it's so hard when I'm hungry all the time !! Lol
I'm 13 weeks and have gained 5 pounds! At 10 weeks I had only gained 1 pound due to constant nausea and having a hard time eating. In the past 3 weeks I've packed on 4 pounds which scares me. I'm guessing some of it is constipation and some of it is because I can finally eat again although I don't eat a lot. 3 usually small meals and a snack or two throughout the day. By snack I mean a banana and/or applesauce!
I worry myself. I'm 15 weeks now and have gained 7 pounds. Problem is since I'm overweight I'm only supposed to gain 15 pounds, the whole pregnancy. Which I think is insane and impractical. I try to keep nothing but fresh fruit and veggies around me. Feeling fustrated trying to eat healthy and I still gain to much. I will say that for someone to quit smoking and only gain 7 pounds in 9 weeks isn't to bad I geuss.
Off topic but I gained 10 lbs 4 years ago when I quit smoking and I look at pics back then and feel like I looked my best even though I ate like crap. Go figure lol
I will be 14 wks tomorrow, so far according to my home scale and my doctor's appointment last Friday, I haven't gained anything. I can't even imagine that being correct considering my pants are uncomfortably tight, I had to bust out the belly band this week! I also went clothes shopping today and I am finally beginning to look pregnant, or maybe it's the constipation, lol.

25-35 lbs is the recommended amount for a healthy prepregnant weight. As your BMI goes up the recommended amount goes down. Talk honestly with your doctor about the amount of weight gain you should be looking for.
I gained 11 pounds in my first 13 weeks. I am 14 weeks 5 days now and don't have a scale at home so I just rely on my doctor visits to show me how much I've gained. I'm carrying twins, which is a bit different when it comes to weight gain, but just take comfort in the fact that every woman's body and every pregnancy is different. Eat healthy, exercise when you have the energy, get rest when you can, and that's all you can do to make sure you have a healthy pregnancy! And btw I love that I'm gaining weight and my stomach gets bigger every week. It just means that the babies are being nourished and growing just as they should be!
I think it all evens out pretty well. I gained more in my first trimester with DD than I though I would, then I slowed down in the second and third. I think the fear you have is genuine and that is that maybe the weight gain will just happen too rapidly, and I just don't think that's the case. If you're minding your intake and keeping the variety in your diet with fruits and veggies, that baby is going to grow well and your body will do what it needs to do in order to support that growth. You're doing a great job, and being aware of that concern is important, but don't let it go beyond that. Your body is meant to do this, and it probably knows more about what to do than any of us BTDT moms do! Try to find something that makes you feel great (healthy, happy, beautiful) and do it often!

I quit smoking when I found out I was pregnant so around 4 weeks and 5 days ! And I too gained weight from quitting !
I gained 10 lbs in the first 11 weeks. I'm 15 weeks as of today and am still at 10 lbs. I think it all evens out...my doctor said some women "blossom" earlier
I've gained 10lbs and just hit 15 weeks. This is my third child. #1- gained over 80lbs!! #2- gained 35lbs. With this one, I am still lifting weights and active at the gym 4 days a week. So I am not too stressed about the weight this time around.
I've gained 5-10 lbs at least and I'm in week 13 almost 14. I weigh only 110 lbs and sometime 115 depending on the "bloat" factor of the day- but since I'm 5'1 I show every little lb I put on. I'm worried I have gained too much too soon. I also didn't have too bad of morning sickness so I have been eating normal if not more than I normally would, and I quit smoking the second I found out I was pregnant. I guess I'm worried I will just look "fat" rather than cute with a baby bump. Everyone tells me otherwise but I can't help the way I'm feeling. Sorry haha, rant over!
I thought I had gained maybe 6 lbs at 10 weeks then weighed myself a few days later and was down 3 lbs. Probably poop, LOL. I've given up on keeping track. They can weigh me at the dr's office. If it's too much, they'll tell me. I eat kinda healthy- still nauseous at 13 weeks so if I crave something I eat it most days. With DS I gained 30 lbs total but for whatever reason I was packing on the poundage third trimester even though there was no room in my body for food so I mostly lived on liquids.
I gained 7 at my most and I weighed myself yesterday and was only up 2 lbs. I'm 14w today. I feel it really depends on how bloated or constipated I am. I'm still wearing all my normal clothes and I got together with some good friends yesterday and no had a suspicion! I am keeping it a secret for a bit yet.
Don't fret! Our bodies have an intelligence when it comes to this I gained close to 20lbs already! My dr says it's fine since I started out on the smaller side (5'5, 117). I think it's all about your starting pt
Just try not to gain over 40 could be a little tricky after that. With DS I didn't gain weight until 6 months and then it was 7 pounds lol!!!!! With this one it's been up and down but I'm not worrying cause I'm pretty active during and after my pregnancies
this is my first pregnancy and I have gained about 9-10 lbs at 14w5d...the best advice I got was let your doctor keep up with your weight gain. Eat healthy and mindfully and your body will do with it what it should. Indulging within reason is fine! I have been giving myself a hard time with my weight....I just have to be reminded of the reward coming! I don't know anyone that is thinking about the number on the scale when their baby is placed in their arms
Re: 14-15 weeks, already gained almost 10lbs!!!
