3-4 am insomnia anyone?

anyone else have a magical hour of new onset insomnia since getting pregnant? Mine has been somewhere between 3 and 4 am almost every night and I lay awake for almost an hour. Doesn't seem to be affected by my fluctuating work schedule, my activity level or whether or not I took a nap the day prior. I'm just awake regardless.

  • Me too! And I have to be up for work at 5am, so I only get one more hour. It's so annoying.

  • Yup yup i wake up around 3-3:30am every single night i use the restroom grab a drink and i just lay wide awake for like an hour or so then i pass back out no matter what i do! Its really frustrates me because it makes me feel like i didn't sleep at all :(
  • I'm with you too.  About 3:30ish for at least an hour or more.  I feel like I am always drifting back off and then my two year decides its time to wake up.
  • Same here!! So weird!!
  • Mine is 2:00-3:00! I have to pee and drink some water then I'm wide awake. It's so frustrating and sad.

I'm wake up every night at 3am and have to go to the bathroom. Wait until the 3rd trimester when you're up every hour!! ^#(^
  • I'm awake at 4am every day for at leasta week.... usually iI don't go to bed until midnight or later either (:| Once I'm up I'm up
  • Thank god I'm not alone. I can't remember my other pregnancies being like this. My eyes pop open at 3:15am every.single.day for the last three weeks.
  • I start work at 3am. Up by 2 every day. Last week I woke up at midnight every day and never went back to sleep. I'm doing better this week. It comes in cycles for me.
  • for me it's about about 4am every night! usually, I have to pee and that will wake me up but then I can't get back to sleep. Glad to see I'm not alone!
  • 2-5am for me! Currently laying here debating on a snack because sleep doesn't appear to be happening!
  • I'm pregnant with my third, and I woke up the same time every night with both of my previous babies and after they were born they would wake up at the same time to eat. Idk if that's really what's happening now, but I like to think they are waking up and active in your tummy and they are getting you ready for their schedule.
  • Same. Only I wake up starving. I have to get a snack otherwise I won't go back to sleep
  • I'm with @mrsschwarz wondering if this isn't part of our "training"?  It's amazing what our bodies will do without us directing them.
  • Right there with you. 3:30 hits and I am magically awake. Luckily, my husband gets up at 4:00 each morning for work, so I am not up alone. Too bad I am sleepy again around 6:45--just in time for my alarm to go off at 7:00, :(
  • Yep! Every night around 2:10 I wake up and lay in bed staring at the ceiling for an hour
  • I wake up around 4:30 or 5 and can't get back to sleep!
  • Me too!! I wake up out of no where and can't get comfy or go back to sleep! So I watch cartoons! :-S
  • Yes! 3:00-4:00 I wake up with weird anxiety and can't get back to sleep!
  • Yep, EVERY SINGLE MORNING.
  • I had that and then I switched my bathroom light for a small night light and don't turn any lights on when I get up, I have a cup by the fridge ready to go for water so I can stumble into the br and kitchen and not have to completely wake up. In the beginning I had horrible insomnia so far this has helped for me.

  • I've been waking up as well. Having to pee of course but then can't fall back asleep. Doesn't help either when the hubby snores.
  • Yep I'm wide awake from 3-4am.My work days are super long when on late shifts! :-(
  • Same here! Between midnight & 3:30am it's so annoying!!
  • Yep! Currently battling this problem! 2-3 am
  • It's 2am here in Wisconsin and I am wide awake snacking on white cheddar popcorn. It's been especially bad this week since I am on spring break. Been staying up late and sleeping until 11am or noon. I went to Home Depot today and got exhausted 20 minutes in. I feel like such a bum but honestly, if it's what my body is demanding then I am giving in to it before resuming work on Monday. Hopefully, this insomnia thing won't last forever...I'm trying to save my sleepless nights for when baby arrives!

  • Same here ! It's 4:30/5 for me !
  • I've noticed I'm getting up at 5 am (normally would be 6:30ish) and I can't settle back down. :(

  • I was like that with my last pregnancy. Noo matter what time I went to bed, I would wake up at the exact same time every day, which was 3:30am, and not be able to fall back asleep. It lasted my whole pregnancy too, it was awful.

  • Ugh I feel so much better after seeing these posts, this is happening and it's KILLING me. When will it let up? 2nd trimester?
  • Same here, 3-4 every morning. When I finally fall back asleep and the alarm goes off I'm still a zombie.
  • Every. single. night. for a week now. Ugh. Same thing every night, wake up for no reason, go to the bathroom, get a sip of water, lay back down.... and toss and turn. Between the cat and SO wanting to "snuggle" me in to a sandwich, and SO snores/grinds his teeth its basically impossible to get back to sleep. I have deeply considered sleeping in the spare room since it won't be converted to the nursery for a few more months.
  • Yes! I wake up starving at 2:30 am and then I can't go back to sleep. This happened to me this morning and i just stayed up and got a bunch of stuff done for work. Now I'm a total zombie trying to keep up with my toddler. Luckily hubby just took him outside so I can get some rest.
  • I'm with you! It's very aggravating! If you find a way to sleep through the night please oh please let me know lol;)

I usually do, but since kicking my cat out of the bedroom I don't. Until 6:00 when she decides I need a wake up call!
  • I'm glad to hear it's not just me!  4:15am on the dot for the past week and a half!  It's one of the "symptoms" that led me to take a pregnancy test as I'm normally a great sleeper.

  • Oh my goodness yes. I went through the same exact thing with my first pregnancy as well. I wake up about every hour. Usually because I have to pee lol my fatigue level is insane and I border on narcalepsy during the day. SO TIRED BUT JUST CANT SLEEP
  • Ugh yes what is up with this?! I have had two out of 7 nights this week that I didn't wake up to pee and then can't go back to sleep. Hubby snores and my 3 year old lately has been coming to get in our bed at 6 am which normally is when I finally went back to sleep, then my alarm goes off at 7:30am :/ hope this stops in the second trimester soooo tired and no time for naps during the week.....
  • This insomnia is probably one of the toughest pregnancy symptoms so far. I just lay awake from 2-5 (a few nights a week) which doesn't help the exhaustion I'm already having and a demanding job on top
  • Yes! 3 am every morning! It's been the worst symptom so far. I have to pee, lay there tossing and turning, then get hungry. I never had this with my first baby. It just might drive me crazy!
