GD check in 4/6

How's everyone doing?

I have my appointment with the Disbetes a Clinic on Thursday. I'll be meeting with a dietician and getting my script for my monitor. It will be nice to know where I'm at.

This weekend was horrible with my diet. I tried to eat in moderation but it was just too hard with all the Easter festivities.

How's was everyone else's weekend?

  • My fasting sugars have been a tad high (usually 93-100), but my 1 hr post meal checks have all been fine. Went to an Easter Brunch buffet, and I chose my food carefully. I had a bunch of protein, and a small serving of cheesy potatoes. Then the smallest brownie I've ever seen (like 1 inch square). Grrrr, my sugars were high. Oh well, my doctor said I can indulge every now and then, so I won't worry about it.

  • My numbers were a little high yesterday for Easter breakfast but the dietitian said that breakfast is the hardest one because you are most insulin resistant in the am. I generally don't eat much for breakfast anyway.

  • Just got diagnosed. Numbers a little high but nothing too alarming. However I did just cave and eat some easter candy so that probably won't look good in 2 hours!

  • Fasting BGs have been good. Getting the hang of it now. Yesterday was hard. I actually was 91, 2 hrs after dinner and I was super grumpy about not having candy or cake. I'm going to buy my favorite Easter candy that's on sale now and put it away for after LO is born. Eye on the prize is my motivation right now. Healthy baby, healthy momma. Limit complications. We can do it ladies!!
  • Weekend was pretty good! My sugar levels after Easter dinner were a bit high but. Oops. I'm trying to keep things in moderation but lately it's been pretty difficult. I've been watching my diet since the beginning of the second trimester. I got tested early because I have a family history of diabetes. I think part of it is that I'm tired of eating the same foods over and over again.

I usually don't have a problem checking my sugars 4 times a day but for the past couple of days I'd forget. I blame that on pregnancy brain! I noticed that my numbers are creeping up a bit too. I'm not on any medication but I feel like I might have to soon. Anyone here on meds or insulin? I'd like some insight on that. The reading material I got from the dietician had something in there about diabetic seizures. This is due to insulin shots making blood sugar levels way too low. I've seen my grandmother go through one of those episodes and it was a little scary.
  • I read that you may still have diabetes for a couple of weeks after delivery? Does anyone know this?
  • @laurendutch Yeah I've heard that too. It usually goes away but sometimes it lingers a bit. Don't know from personal experience just what the drs tell me.
