question about Bump app

On the rare occasions that I log on from a computer, I can see notifications of when people have replied to my threads, used @ to respond to me, quoted me, etc. But on mobile, I don't know how to get that info. I just have to re-read every thread. Help? Or please point me to a Help section that I can't seem to find?

Also, on computer I can click a username and see their post history. On the App, it's all wonky and I can't really do that... I don't think. Can I?

Yeah, doesn't work for me on my phone either, which is unfortunate because I'm on my phone way more than the computer. I have a Windows phone . . . maybe on an iPhone or Android it's optimized. What kind do you have?

On the app I don't think you can look at a posters history. But I get little popups when I open the app indicating threads that have been replied to.

Actually, you're right for me, too - if I'm actively on the app (it's not even really an app for me, just the mobile web page, I think), I'll get a little pop up message at the bottom of my screen. But, if I just log in, it doesn't tell me what's happened while I was gone like it would do on the computer.

The history thing is irritating as anything, because it lets you click on their name, and then it says something asinine like, "looks like not much is going on here!" despite the fact that you just clicked on a link that said "405 replies" or whatever.

This is one of my daily frustrations !

Yeah I have the same problems. I've also been having an issue with the app logging me out of the community feature but keeping me logged into all other parts of the app, so I have to completely log out and log back in of I want to post anything. It's super annoying. Not that that's a new quality of the bump...

Yep the app sucks. Unfortunately it's the only way I use the Bump so no fun gifs from me You might notice that all my activity is from 8-9 am or 5-6 pm on my commuter train commutes!

I'm on android (Samsung s4) and I use the mobile version of the webpage, not the app. If I am actively on the site I will get a popup notification at the bottom of the screen when someone interacts with me, but otherwise miss out on the notifications. I have in the past, however, been able to go to someone's profile and see their previous posts by clicking on the number underneath their 'Love' (I just tried it again and was successful)

P.s. - I have also been wondering what the pink circle icon is that some of you have. ngaines27 and amark11 have it for example, karaelaine1991 and I don't have it. I know its for some certain badge, but I've tried looking on peoples profiles and they're not listed using mobile site. I'm totally going to have to log in from an actual PC and mouse over it to see.

I agree that the app kinda sucks but it's just so much easier to access on the phone. I don't really see any notifications until I log in on a computer.

Does anyone here know how to post gifs from their phone? I did a search, saw a tutorial, tried it and failed miserably.

@mellymar I think the pink circle icon you're talking about is a badge you get for posting a profile pic.

I only get on the app and I've noticed I randomly get logged out. Super annoying. I've searched for a way to get notifications when I'm not in the app but can't find a way. I don't know how to add a picture or gif either. I'm an android user.

I have to log in every single time I go to the site. That is super annoying. Is anyone listening, Bump gods? A while ago there was a feedback option, and I filled it out pointing out these huge flaws, but of course no change yet. Guess it's not annoying enough for me to stop using the site, but man, it pisses me off! I never could gif or add a picture, and I have tried (but not that hard). I couldn't figure out the signature or ticker even on the computer so I just turned it off for everyone. Then I don't feel left out .

YES you can gif from the phone. seems hard, but it's easy once you get the hang of it. You just enter a special code that includes the link to your gif.

1. Search for a gif. I just use google image search for something like "left shark gif".
2. Open the gif in a new window. I just click view image on the Google image search page it says something like "view image" NOT "go to website".
3. In the new window hold down the web address and copy the whole link. It looks long and annoying but note it ends with .gif You can also use a still image like .jpg . Then you can paste the link like this: https://media.giphy.com/media/Hfkr9LsKvvPuU/giphy.gif
4. Write your message and at the end when you want your gif type: <***img src="
(no asterisks****! I just have to do that so it doesn't make a gif!)

5. Copy your link right next to the first quote like this: <img src="https://media.giphy.com/media/Hfkr9LsKvvPuU/giphy.gif
6. Close the "formula" with: ">
7. So it looks like this typed exactly with your gif web address instead of [your gif link here] and no asterisks (*)
<**img src="[your gif link here]">

I wish. He was super active yesterday and all up under my ribs. Today I feel him but he's much calmer and I know he's ok, but it still freaks me out when I don't feel him every second. Feeling guilty for complaining about him being under my ribs.

Ahh, sorry to crash your gif party but piggybacking off @amark11 's original post, what do the acronyms mean? I think I figured some out but I could be totally wrong.

For example, DH, DS, DD (dear.. Husband, son, daughter). But then what about FI (fiancé??) TOU, and all the other ones?

There uses to be a glossary of terms that you could follow a link thru the guidelines thread pinned at the top of the board, but last time I tried to use it, it didn't work. And I just tried again and it STILL doesn't work. I usually end up using the search for some acronyms. But for the ones you specifically asked about, I believe FI is indeed fiance (that is what I have been interpreting it as, anyway) and ETA when you see it at the bottom of a post or comment is 'edited to add' as the site / app let's it be known when a post or comment has been edited

ETA - I forgot TOU - those are the terms of use for the site itself

@amark11 I guess it depends on the type of phone you have. I can't find my private inbox in my phone app (I have an iPhone) so I just go on the computer.

I use an iPhone 4S and iPad mini. Wish the Bump Gods would see how much their apps suck. These shortcomings don't seem that hard to fix...

Will have to respond from work tomorrow then. Blech. Thanks for confirming you also can't find the inbox, so at least I know I'm not dumb/crazy!

Try going to "all forums" if you have an iPhone. There might be a line that says inbox. You should find it at the bottom of the community page next to the "my birth club" button

I have an android and I use the mobile web site instead of the app. But when I go to the Community home page and I can choose between my favorite ones and the rest of them, I have a my inbox there, below my favorited forums. Attached a screen shot

That was me! I can only find it on my computer. And I only get on my computer every few days...so don't worry about getting back to me anytime soon...I completely understand!
