We went for our first sonagram yesterday at 7 weeks 3 days and figured out why I have been soooo sick! Twins!!! We have a rare case of Mono-Mono identical twins and see a specialist in 3 weeks. This is our first pregnancy and we conceived naturally. If you are the praying type, please keep my little growing family in your prayers as we are over the moon excited but also very scared of all the risk factors we fall into now. This mommy is so afraid of being in the category of mono-mono so please, any positive stories would be so appreciated. If you or you know someone who has had has a successful Mono-Mono twins please share. I would love to hear them. Also, PLEASE NO NEGATIVE. I'm already terrified of what's to come so keep keep your scary/sad stories to yourself! Thanks birth club!
Re: Mono-Mono Twins
I was diagnosed mono mono at our 14 week ultrasound when we saw one baby actually jump from one side of the sac to the other. But previously one baby had hid the other, and then once they thought conjoined. There was never enough space between them to really consider a membrane, but since it's so rare they try not to diagnose too quickly.
I found a great MFM team that was experienced in MoMo pregnancies. Everything has been scary, but textbook. Babies have developed great, had a great anatomy scan, passed a fetal echo with flying colors, and are very obviously boys
They will be 32 weekers, but we chose a hospital with a great nicu and they assure me that with the steroids and knowing they are coming early, they will be fine, and it will be worth it to know they are outside and doing well.
For anyone who is expecting mono mono twins, there are several FB groups full of mommas who have been there and done that and have wonderful information to give. Find us there, and find a good MFM team that has had mono mono pregnancies before. I can't tell you not to google, but know that a lot of the statistics are outdated due to new medical policies that raise them significantly.
Good luck mama, I hope you find that membrane!
