has anyone experienced this? did it ever go away on its own or is silver nitrate really the only solution?

I had it with my first and needed two applications of silver nitrate. I waited about 2 months between applications hoping it would resolve on its own but it never did. The silver nitrate cleared it quickly though - so I would encourage that for sure!
