I'll admit that I'm a little bit disappointed that dd isn't using words yet. I know she is just 11 months and that there is plenty of time, but ds was using multiple words clearly before a year and it was so exciting. I'm not worried, and I know better, but I miss it a little.
I am not doing a one-year-old photo shoot for my child. I feel like his whole life is a photo shoot because I take pictures of everything all day long. I feel like it's silly to spend the money.I guess while I'm confessing I should go ahead and say that my child has never had professional photos done. I have taken pictures of him various places like the beach. I am by no means a professional photographer, but he's a pretty easy kid to take pictures of because he is always looking for the camera.

Don't worry, her one year photos are probably the only professional photos we will do for awhile. They really did an amazing job though.

I must admit I'm jealous of all the babies using words! DD babbles up a storm but no association. I'm not worried because she knows what things are (she looks at fan when we asks her where the fan is, she knows who mommy and daddy are and she even knows each of the dogs). But it just sounds so cute to hear when other babies say mama, all done, no, etc.
My MIL told us we had to work on her communication! That upset me. Every baby develops at their own rate. She'll get there. We read and talk to her all the time.
I put LO down on the kitchen floor the other day. I then turned around a lifted my leg over him. I guess he's taller than I thought... I kneed him in the forehead. That sent him flying backwards and he smacked his head on the cupboard before hitting the ground. Mom of the year right here.

Me too. She'll be a year tomorrow and still babbling. I try not to worry but it's my nature
I sent LO today care on my day off so I can clean the house. I'm sitting on the couch eating double stuffed Oreos watching HGTV. The vacuum cleaner is sitting out next to me so that's a start.
Not really a confession, but I need a MIL rant session. We live in the same town, so we see her often, at least once seek or so. DS sticks his tongue out a lot, like just kinda half way, like when he's playing or something. Really not a big deal. EVERY time we see her, she makes a comment about how that's his "intelligent look" and how his tongue out makes him look "sooo intelligent." If she insinuates he looks dumb one more time I might throw some punches. I think he is in fact intelligent, and quite handsome too, thank you very much!
@0jamielynn0 --my LO sticks his tongue halfway out all the time too. I think it's cute! Plus, it's a toy that is always there to play with. To me, this all seems totally obvious. Sorry your MIL is being a dope.
And for all the others re: talking, fwiw, LO turned one yesterday and is still just babbling. He'll say mama sometimes, but I'm not sure it's intentional. My SIL made sure I knew 3 words by 1 is the milestone and her kids had 5 words by then. I say he'll talk when he's ready! Chances are good that once he starts, he won't stop!

I didn't realize that DD1 was standing by me while I was washing dishes and she took a fry pan to the head when she was about a year old. It happens to the best of us.
