Is it bad to use a pacifier?

I am wondering if it is bad practice to use a pacifier for my EBF baby, he is 6 weeks old and breast feeding is going great the last few weeks, so I don't want to do anything to mess that up and would rather not use them if there is a chance they can cause issues...but if they can soothe him in the car when I can't breast feed him to pacify I would like to use them.

Once breastfeeding is well-established, it's perfectly fine to use a pacifier to soothe.
  • I used a paci from 2 weeks with baby one and from the hospital with baby 2. They were both ebf and breastfed past a year.
I read that pacis are only really a risk if there's some other problem with breastfeeding.
