Tilted uterus

I went to my 10 week appt. and the Dr. could not find the heartbeat with the Doppler. They had to do an ultrasound instead. Everything was fine, just curious if anyone else has had a hard time with a Doppler due to a tilted uterus? Also, I'm already having lower back pain when I am on my feet too much. I'm assuming my backward-tilted uterus is to blame?

I have trouble every time but hadn't thought my tilted uterus was to blame.  They do always find it eventually but it takes a worryingly long time to locate. I will ask if that's the problem.  I'm curious now.

I feel you on the lower back pain though.  I've only gained 5 pounds and my back is KILLING me all the time.

I also have a retroverted uterus and it took them a minute to find baby in my first ultrasound. I am also having bad lower back pain when I'm standing for a long time like when I'm at work. It's awful sometimes I just figured I was being whiney.

That was me yesterday, my dr couldn't find the heartbeat with the Doppler and I have a retroverted uterus.

I also have one and my first ultrasound at 6w (due to cramping) they couldn't find the heartbeat with Doppler but they could transvaginally. My second ultrasound at 8w they still couldn't find the heartbeat and had to do another transvaginal ultrasound, then the tech asked me if my uterus was tilted. Made sense then. I'm hoping my next one they can find it easier since I will be well into my second trimester.

I have a tilted uterus & it's not fun during pregnancy (at least for me), with my 2nd pregnancy I was taken out of work early because there was so much pressure (towards my lower back) that it pushed on a nerve that was making me dizzy and I passed out. But a few times it scared me when they couldn't find my daughters heart beat right away. I also went to l&d because she wasn't moving as much (she was just sleepy & cramped), but because of my tilted uterus the male nurse couldn't find my cervix and I think he stripped my membranes causing me to go into labor the next day at 37 1/2 weeks. It wasn't until I was like this hurts & I was crying, did he ask if I had a tilted uterus, after saying yes, he had me lay in a different (elevated) position. On my 3rd pregnancy (now) and haven't heard baby's heartbeat yet

Went today for my second appt, I'm 11 weeks now and retroverted. Doc couldn't find the heartbeat with a Doppler so he did a quick US just so I wouldn't worry and LO was fine and heartbeat was flickering away

i know this is a pretty old post, but i was told today i also have a titled uterus and it will "move" in a few weeks. does anyone know if this can be problematic? any moms out there have this issue with other pregnancies? my ob didnt seem concerned at all.

My doctor said that most women tilt either forward or backward.  Forward is more common than back but it's like the equivalent of being left or right handed.  It's so common that it shouldn't cause any major issues.

He said that with a back tilt (like I have) I will most likely carry the baby a little more in my back and it can cause a a little pressure on the spine in some cases.  However as the uterus lifts out of the pelvic area it usually straightens up a little bit.   My mom and her mom both have a backward tilt uterus and no complications during all their pregnancies. I have some pain occasionally but I just sit in the shower and let the warm water run on my back and it helps.

Once the uterus grows up over the pelvic bone it shouldn't be any different than a forward tilted uterus. I have a tipped also and had no problems with my previous pregnancy or this one due the position. Once baby is bigger you should have no problems finding the HB.

I had an appointment at 13 weeks and they couldnt find the heartbeat until they did an ultrasound. But the doctor didnt say anything about why.

I am only 11 weeks and only gained 2 pounds so far. I have back pain at some point every day. The doctor did tell me my uterus is tilted backward at my first appointment so maybe that's why. Thanks for the post!
