we are having our third this summer and having such a hard time naming this little one! We like classic/timeless names that are unique or less common, and we do not want "trendy". Here are our boy and girl lists. All opinions welcome! Our other kids names are Mar.i.ella and Jam.es.on.

Girl:
Caroline
Camila (nn Millie)
Audrey
Everleigh or Everly
Alaina or Elena (nn Lainey)

Boy:
Callen (nn Cal)
Brady
Weston (nn Wes or West)
Emery
Rory

Girl middle name possibilities: Colleen, Ann or Jean. Boy middle name: Paul or Hal. (All family names)

Thanks for the much needed help. I'm also open to other suggestions that will fit our style and go with our other kids names.

Re: Please Help Narrow Our Lists :)

  • Caroline and Audrey top your girls list and for boys, Rory. Maybe Calvin instead of Callen.
    Married:09/27/14
    Baby N-Born:10/29/15
Our Angel: EDD: 05/11/17. MC at 6 weeks
    Baby #2- EDD: 07/18/17

  • Girl:

    Camilla or Audrey

Everleigh/Everly is the height of trendy. Just say no.

    Boy

    Rory
    Emery (though kinda trendy)

Everything else is also pretty trendy.

  • Of your lists I like these combinations for girls; Caroline Ann, Audrey Colleen, or Elena Jean

I like Camilla (prefer this spelling, but Camila is still a proper variant spelling) but if you plan to use the nickname Millie, I feel that is too close to your other daughter's name, Mariella.
Everleigh/ Everly, this is not a proper name and does not compare to the other names you have chosen.

    For the boys; Brady Paul

I prefer Wesley (nickname Wes), not Weston. Wesley Paul is a very nice name.
Emery and Rory are not my style.
Callen is not a proper name either. Consider Calvin (nickname Cal) or Callum.

  • Thanks for the input so far. I agree with most of my boys names being trendy (nms)... hubby's picks. Are Brady, Rory or Wesley trendy? Any other suggestions in addition to what I have??
  • Love Caroline Jean. I prefer Calvin and Wesley as well, but LOVE the nicknames Wes and Cal.

To my knowledge, Wesley is the most classic of these three. I haven't noticed it gaining popularity lately, however we have discussed this name on this board a few times in the last couple of months. The general response is positive and the nickname Wes is well liked.

Brady is an Irish surname and falls into the 'surname trend' so I would say this name is a bit trendy.

Rory is the Anglicized variant of the Irish/Scottish name Ruaidhri, meaning "Red King". I have only met one Rory in my life, he was about 10 years older than me. I live in LA and haven't noticed an upswing of Rorys out here but this name does fall into the hugely popular 'Irish name trend' so there's that.

I prefer Wesley. However with your other son's name being Jameson (another surname), Brady would easily fit into your sib set. Rory is not my style and, to me, sounds borderline "hipster".

    Caroline and Wesley.
  • Audrey or Caroline for a girl. Toss Everly--nothing classic about it.

I agree with everything @brita722 said about the boys names. Brady could seem a bit trendy, but not too bad and it fits your style since your son has a surname as well. It's the only name up there I would consider... NAF of Emery or Rory, and Callen is the opposite of classic. As PP stated, Wesley is a good alternative to Weston (which feels trendy) and goes well with sibset.

if you change the spelling of Camilla to Camila , then you also change the pronunciation of it. Camilla = Ca-mill-a and Camila =Ca-mee-la. Both are pretty.
  • Girls:
    Keep Caroline, Camilla, and Audrey
Suggestions: Audrey Jean, Camilla Ann, Caroline Jean

    Boys:
I don't love any of your boy names, but some are close to great names. How about Wesley, Calvin, Caleb, or Emmett.
Suggestions: Wesley Paul, Calvin Paul,, Emmett Paul

  • Get rid of everleigh/everly and emery, the rest of the names are pretty good. Although I would also say change Weston to Wesley and Callen to Calvin or Callum like PP's have suggested. Caroline and camila are the best girls name options. As far as Rory goes, I've never met one. I've met a few Wesley's but not an overwhelming amount. Weston reminds me of Galen Weston, one of the chairmen of loblaws grocery stores and president's choice and just makes me think of food.
  • Thank you ALL for your honest input and suggestions-I love Wesley, I'll have to run it by hubby! This really helped narrow down our lists!
  • Caroline - LOVE it! One of my favorite names ever.
Camila (nn Millie) - Prefer Camille or Camellia
Audrey - Like a lot, only problem is it's very trendy
Everleigh or Everly - Toss. Or better yet, throw into a corn field. I hate this stupid name.
Alaina or Elena (nn Lainey) - NMS

    Boy:
Callen (nn Cal) - Why not Calvin?
    Brady - Why not Bradley?
Weston (nn Wes or West) - Why not Winston?
Emery - Like a nail file? Hate this almost as much as Everly
    Rory - Cute

Rory Paul is adorable. Caroline Jean is gorgeous.

  • Hubs says no on Wesley :(. I hate this compromise thing! I feel likei need more boy suggestions - I don't LOVE any of the ones we currently have, for one reason or another. Calvin is a no, neither of us like that one. Hubby suggested Cormac (my first thought Is absolutely not)...thoughts? Please give more boy suggestions that would fit my style and sib set! TIA ladies!
  • For girls, I love Caroline and Audrey, but they are really growing in popularity. I love Camila. It's underused and fits perfectly with your daughter.

For a boy, I suggest Bennett, Harrison, Grant, or Bryce. These just feel like your style to me.
  • I don't like Cormac but Corbin would be okay . I second the suggestions of Bennett and Grant.

  • Girl: Caroline Ann, Camila Ann, Everleigh Jean, Alaina Colleen, Audrey Jean

Boy: I feel like there's some discord between first and middle names here...

    Other names to consider:
    August
    Charles
    Corbin
    Darryl
Edison (unless 2 "son"s is too much, then maybe Edwin?)
    Elliot
    Lawrence
    Maxwell
