Lump in groin

This may be a little TMI...but I found a lump in my groin last night. It feels about the size of a pea and it is under the skin where my leg meets my crotch. It doesn't hurt at all, I just noticed that it was there. I've looked it up and it seems to be somewhat common but I'm wondering if anyone has had the same experience and what it's been. I don't have an appointment scheduled for another 3 weeks.

  • All I can think of is Herpes causes bumps in that area.
More seriously, no experience with it, but if you're that worried or concerned call the nurses line at your doctor.
  • Definitely not herpes! I thought ingrown hair as well but it's under the skin.
  • Ingrown hairs can be completely under the skin. Sometimes they hurt and sometimes they don't.

Haha, that's what an ingrown hair is...

  • It could be a lymph node. They are totally normal. Do you have a cold?
  • I've had that on and off since I started running.

I don't run anymore, but since I got it once it comes back every so often when my groin is feeling especially chafed.

It seriously is just from heat and friction, I noticed it back again last week. Probably a swollen lymph node or something.

    Definitely not herpes lol ;)

*I didn't realize there were two threads started for this, I thought I'd post my answer again in this one
  • If it's hard it could be a cyst. If not hard then most likely just an ingrown hair. Have your Dr take a look next time if it's still there. In the meantime you can try putting a warm washcloth on it or take a warm bath in Epsom salts
