I don't know what it is, but having a baby has set DH's family into this crazy anti-modern medicine mindset!
She's been pressuring us not to vaccinate (we do) and had been since I was pregnant. She tries to say she's not swaying us one way or another, but it's always propaganda articles from anti-vaccer sites that clearly have an agenda. So this had been ongoing and annoying with ever doctors appointment.
Our LO has breastfed colitis that we found at 5 weeks. I've eliminated dairy and she's been fine since. We tried reintroducing at 4 months but it irritated her intestines again so I've cut it out completely since. It's my understanding that this is super common and most kids outgrow it by 12 months.
Then today she went and asked their wholistic (is that even what it is?!?) doctor about this!! She said her other son read that our baby might develop a gluten intolerance because of this, and then started blaming the IV meds she got shortly after her birth (I developed a fever during labor, which is why these were necessary) as the culprit saying we need probiotics to fight this and "do we want her to order some for us?" Here's what HER doctor recommends...
I swear they were normal before we had kids, but now I feel like she is just looking for something to be wrong with our kid. Anyone else have good ways to approach a situation like this?
Sorry to rant, and if this doesn't make sense. On my phone and short break at work!!

Re: MIL Rant
Sorry you're getting unwanted advice from your family, too! When you choose to have more kids is seriously no one else's business!!

"We appreciate your concern, but we've researched the topic and have spoken with our pediatrician and have decided to xyz." If she still persists then something like "We value your oppinion, but xyz is something we feel strongly about and it's not up for debate with us regarding our child."
What does your husband say about his mom's actions? He needs to step up and be the "bad guy" here.

I have my fair share of MIL stories/problems but for different reasons.
If I were in your shoes I probably would just say what PP said and tell her thanks for concern and advice... And just say you'll weigh options taking into consideration you can't completely ignore your pedi. It's so hard when you get advice from in laws or parents that go against what you believe.
On a side note, probiotics are pretty awesome. My pedi highly recommends probiotics and they can be taken with most treatments anyway. Gerber has a probiotic... And once LO is able to start on yogurt, there are probiotics in that as well. You could always ask pedi what they think abou using them in addition to their recommended treatments.
Good luck!!!
