Incorrect dating scan

Hi guys,

I previously had an US 3 weeks ago and going by my LMP I would have been 6wks 5 days, although the scan measured at 6 wks exactly and my Due date was moved back 5 days. This caused me a bit of anxiety, so I asked my doctor for another scan to ease my worries.
So today at 9 wks 3 days, I had an ultrasound that measured only 1 day behind....so I will get my original DD back, yay! So relieved☺

Has anyone else had this problem?

Re: Incorrect dating scan

  • My original due date was Oct 6- after my dating u/s it was changed to Oct 17! My next u/s is in a couple weeks so I'll make sure to ask if babe is still on track or if it's changed again. I hope not!

  • That's so interesting to me that they actually moved your due date the first time! I have done a lot of reading in this area because I wanted to be prepared for this conversation with my clinic when they tried to make me stick to my EDD based on LMP like they did with DD. Both of my LMP dates were almost 3 weeks different from when I knew I ovulated, and this last time, my record was right to the day! (For whatever reason, I was super stoked to be right :) ) Most of the literature states that unless the EDDs vary by more than 2 weeks, the EDD stands. I'm so glad you have a baby who seems to be growing right on track! It's nice to know you're closer to 40 than not, so that's a bonus :)

  • For a first trimester US if there is more than a 5 day difference from the LMP it is standard to then go with the US date. The two week rule is further along in pregnancy when measuring the baby becomes less accurate.
  • My first due date was oct 16 due to lmp. This past week the babies were measuring over a week ahead of that, so my due date was changed to oct 8.

I have always measured a week ahead and my doctor has always changed my due date accordingly. This is my third pregnancy.

  • @amazing450....were the changes in due dates correct?  Is that when you went into labor?  Just curious :)

  • My last two had their dates changed later after their ultra sounds by about a week. I was pretty confident in my timing but guess I was wrong- DD was five days after her due date and DS was one day after his. Hoping I got it right for this one!
