Hands and legs feel stiff and puffy, but they're not?

Just wondering if anybody else is experiencing this. I've tried googling and yes, even used the search option here on the boards. But nobody seems to be describing what I'm going through, everything leads me to Carpal Tunnel Syndrome but I don't think it's that. It's hard to describe but I'll try...

It's just like sometimes my whole body feels "stiff" or "puffy" like I'm swollen, but I'm not. I often get it in my hands, my legs, and I feel it in my feet too. And sometimes in my back. I don't know - it's just WEIRD! Like feeling the way I do, I would expect to look down and see my hands totally swollen, but they're not swollen at all. They also aren't tingling, there is no numbness, and there is no pain. I just "feels" puffy.

I got my blood pressure checked, it's fine. I don't really have a huge sodium intake. I don't even think I had anything with salt in it today, or yesterday. It doesn't matter how much water I drink. Blood sugar levels are fine. I'm obviously going to bring this up to my doctor when I see him this week, but in the meantime just wondering if anyone is feeling this way?? I guess I'm just hoping to hear I'm not totally out of the norm on this!

  • I've notice my hands and feet feeling this way. I do have blood pressure problems. I know how you feel I don't feel puffy but I feel like my skin is drawn tight. I use lotion and coat myself down and it seems to help. I figured it was just dry skin but it make me feel tight in my hands and feet too I will go to take my shoes off and there is not an ounce of swelling. I've noticed a little tightness in my fingers just by making it harder to take my rings off. It seems to more later in the afternoons and when I first wake up. Let me know what your doc says I'm curious to what it could be. I'm sure it's nothing but at least you know your not alone now lol.

  • I get that feeling in my feet but not really in my hands. Even if you think you're drinking enough water you might not be. Also apparently there is a correct way to drink water. My doctor yelled at me because even though I was drinking the right amount of water daily, I would chug a bottle of water all at once and then go a couple hours without drinking anything, which means you only absorb a little and then pee out the rest. You gotta drink it slowly over time.

I feel like I keep pushing pedialyte, but whenever I start feeling puffy I get a few bottles to drink during the day (switching off with water of course). That usually helps me, but do def talk to your doctor.
  • I feel you girl, my hands are stiff and totally puffy feeling, especially when I close them. It's a weird feeling seeing how they aren't swollen.

  • Mine feel like this in the morning, especially if it's been hot. I usually just soak them in cold water for a couple of minutes and they're fine. I'm a musician though, it's what I've always done to get my fingers moving in the morning, but it could be worth a try :)
  • I get the same feeling, but no actual swelling. My BP has always been totally normal. My dr told me at my last visit it has to do with all the extra blood flow. Just one of those uncomfortable, but normal thangs.
