As someone who works in a children's library... kids LOVE pokemon. I don't think it's ever going to go away at this point.

As for the name itself it's not my favorite but it's also far from the worst I've seen on here. What matters is that you love it- if you do, go for it!

I dunno about Pokemon, or biblical (nonreligious, myself) - but I do read a lot of sci-fi / fantasy and play a lot of video games, and the name looks like it would be from one of those sources. Not necessarily a bad thing, as hubs and I were trying to choose book character names for our own LO, but it does look like the names we were like 'oh.... What about that character Abra Sydelle? that dude was badass....' And then immediately after shaking our heads - 'no one would know how to say it, and it sounds a bit like renegade elf or something'. Which again, I would be 100% behind, but only after I had you pronounce it for me, and tell me the back story about how Abra the renegade elf saved the peoples who had shunned him by battling the demon lord long enough for the hero of the story to complete the spell that would send the demon lord to another dimension, and while Abra did fall in battle, the families that shunned him planted a tree in his honor and stuck his sword at the base.... You get my drift? In that sense, I would consider it an awesome name, but would need all of that other stuff to realize its awesomeness first. (Whatever Abra did that was so biblical you named your kid after him)
Also, I can't tell if it is for a boy, or a girl.
It flows fine, tho, once you told me how to say it.
It may be that there is a regional or cultural significance here that we are missing as well. Its entirely possible that in your immediate circle there are plenty of Abra's as its a commonly chosen name among that people group. If so, then of course they would already know the significance and pronunciation, and it wouldn't be a thing at all....

This x1000!! abracadabra fo life and I like all different styles of names. I like sydelle a lot though.

I guess I have never been into Pokeman, so I wouldn't know... It's a Hebrew name. Going for more Biblical than anime.

Names where you need to specify pronunciation are pretty hard to deal with... But that just my opinion.

I have no idea about the religious context, but it is a pokemon name. Depending on where your child grows up, that might be all their friends think of. Something to consider.

From looking at some of these posts, there are people of varying ethnicities and educational backgrounds, so I don't assume the pronunciation would be the same everywhere. I think it's not hard to say... Just wanting opinions on the flow of the first and middle together. I'm not sure what you mean by hard to deal with.

...But I am so traditional and boring when it comes to names. If it means something to you, then who cares what rando chick traditionista says.

They sure do at the elementary school I work at!

I've never heard of either name so I don't have an opinion really, but I think it flows well, if that's more what you were looking for!

My daughter has just about every video game and just has started to get into the cards! Pokemon is still a big hit lol. My hubby still loves Pokemon! He is the biggest reason for our daughters love of them.

Well you needed to specify it here so I guess I was assuming that would be a common experience for you and child... That is what I mean by hard to deal with....I had a last name that no one ever said right and it was beyond annoying and embarrassing at times as a kid (and pronunciation shouldn't have been too difficult).....But you seem to like it so it doesn't really matter then.

Sorry you had this experience. My name is Lindsey and people would mispronounce that, along with my very simple two syllable last name. I guess not everyone learned basic pronunciation rules!!

I don't like either name. And I don't really think they flow well together. However from your comments it looks like you've settled on this name, and were just looking for others to congratulate your name choice. I won't be doing that, but it's your child, your name choice.

Please use the thread titled "names" for these types of discussions. There is also a whole forum about baby names. And don't say I'm mean or catty for stating simple facts.
Others here have stated my opinion on the specific name. Though it sounds like you don't actually want opinions...

OP, I'm not sure where you're from, but if you live in an English speaking country then I would bear in mind that your child will be bombarded with Abracadabra jokes all their life. Personally I wouldn't use it for that reason.
