DH got stupid drunk at the house last night with a buddy. I had to pour out part of a bottle of tequila just to make him go to bed. Not a fun night. But on the up side I did drag him to church and fully enjoyed watching him sweat it out. He even had me stop on the way so he could throw up. And I'm making him take our 7 and 8 year old girls to the batting cages this afternoon.

Bwahahaha! You evil woman, you! This is fantastic.

  • I am livid right now. I am currently on modified bedrest. For yesterday and today my husband has spent the entire day working at his late grandpas house bc they are fixing it up to sell it. Today he said he wouldn't be late but what do ya know, he's not here and it's almost 5pm. My parents are on the way for dinner and I like my house to be tidy for them. Well it looks like crap bc I have no help from him. I'm so mad right now
  • We've been finding it tough to come up with boy names (we've only got one that we like at all) and DH keeps asking all his relatives to come up with names. I'm probably overreacting, but I'm worried that by constantly trying to get opinions from them, he's going to make them think that they have a say in the final decision. I'm just waiting for people to start insisting "you can't name him that, you have to name him this". DHs grandmother has even got one of her friends ready to work out what the name should be based on the date and time of his birth.
  • After spending an entire afternoon in the hospital with contractions yesterday, and light duty from here on out my grandmother announces in front of the rest of my family.... "There's the fat one" it's been a wonderful weekend! :-@
  • My grandmother keeps giving me grief about not being in the room when I deliver. She seems to think that it's totally cool if there's stadium seating for the entire world when I'm squeezing out a human.
This is our first. My DH will be there because we both want him to be even though he'll definitely pass out before it's time to cut the cord, and my mom is going to be in there to actually help me (she's also been an L&D nurse for forever.)
It makes me so mad when grandma acts like it's me being an awful person because I'd like a little privacy when birthing my first child. Am I insane?

Definitely not insane! Sorry you're going through this. Maybe see if you can get your mom on board with telling your grandma that she's just going to have to wait until you're ready for visitors after the baby's born? I always find my mom to be fantastic back-up and it sounds like your mom is probably the same way :)

  • Mines more of an unpopular opinion. I'm tired of reading about women going to the hospital to deliver but refusing an IV... Seriously!?! The reason you deliver in a hospital is in case something bad happens and if something bad happens you aren't gonna a want to waste time "starting" an IV you will want one in place... What is so freaking bad about having an IV lock? this is coming from the lady poked 8 times on my second labor to get one in place... Then I get it out as soon as it is deemed safe enough by medical staff. It just seems silly to take precautions to be in a safe place and not take the extra precaution. Besides when I start puking I totally want IV zofran.
  • @staceyfern I bet that's the case!! Cut out dairy completely and see how you feel! Then, bring it up at your next doctors appointment.
  • This is really, really a silly one... but I am having the hardest time battling the temptation to peek at my baby registry! My showers are all approaching so people are starting to buy gifts. We've registered with Amazon and they have this really awesome "thank you list" feature that gives you the names and addresses of everyone who's purchased gifts to make the thank you note-writing process easier, but it also makes it soooo tempting to peek and see who's bought what! I'll admit, I've caved a few times! But I just saw that 3 more gifts were purchased and I'm determined not to look at the thank you list again until after my first shower!

I'm seriously the worst at ruining surprises for myself! Anyone else struggling with this?
Definitely looked at all 3 of mine last week. My sister told me that was cheating, but I don't know who bought it or what which shower I'm going to get it at so I don't feel too bad. I'm honestly just trying to prepare myself for what isn't gifted and that I'll have to buy myself.

Oh, I look at who bought what, which means I also know when I'm going to be getting each one - I have NO self control! And it's purely curiosity for me... DH and I will of course purchase the bigger items that are left if no one else does but some of the smaller stuff on there will probably be forgotten about after the showers.

I don't think I would feel bad if I could tell. I'd get a jump start on thank you notes. I'm terrible with surpises.

That's true... I've been writing thank you notes for the gifts that arrive at our apartment prior to the shower, but not for the other ones. This is a good idea, I might have to use it! Thanks :)

Went to the Doctor for my regular appointment today, and my OB was on vacation so I saw her cover-off. He was nice, NBD, except that he lectured me on my weight gain - I've gained 12 lbs and apparently that's what he likes to see throughout the duration of the pregnancy and I'm only on week 27.  So fair enough, he's the doctor, but he then spent 15 minutes trying to explain to me that he doesn't want me to 'diet' persay, just to limit my calorie intake.  But not to diet, just to choose healthier options like salads and carrot sticks...but to eat less of them than what I normally would.  Sounds like a diet to me, doctor!  I miss my OB :( Oh and also, because of cramping he's told me to lay off the exercise!
  • @kbooth412, my OB makes a quick mention about weight if I've gained even one pound more than we're aiming for (1 pound a week). So that's like an extra pound over the 4 week period. She just reminds me to watch what I eat because its just more to lose later.

I'm a healthy weight (now and pre-pregnancy) and I'm not pigging out. So if it's not impacting the baby and I'm still healthy, then I'd prefer to do without the weight gain reminder. :/

12 pounds for the whole pregnancy? What? I'm 27 weeks as well, next appointment is this Friday. I've gained 22. At each of my appointments I always ask about my weight and they say it's perfect. I've seen several doctors as they want me to be familiar with all of them as who knows who will be on call when I deliver. They told me 30 pounds is ideal for my frame. I know it's different for everyone, but 12 pounds doesn't seem like much considering all the extra fluids in our body. Not to mention we're growing a human. I would call and talk to your regular doctor when she gets back.

Heh it didn't even occur to me NOT to look! I'm too much of a planner and I want a heads up as to what we will likely still need to buy!

I think that's part of the temptation for me - I'm a huge planner too. But I know the people who will be at the shower will be looking forward to seeing my initial reaction so I feel guilty every time I peek. The good thing is most of the people who've bought gifts from my registry already had them sent to my apartment, so those people won't see my reaction anyway. But my MIL's shower is next weekend so I think her guests are starting to buy things and they probably won't be having things shipped directly to me... so time to practice self control!

  • I am so so very frustrated with my doctors office this week. My second glucose 1 hr test was slightly elevated so they had me do the 3 hr on Wednesday and told me to call friday for the results. When I called Friday they said the machine had just broken so they had to send it to a lab and would have it first thing monday. Called this morning (after trying to get through for an hour) and was told to try again later because they still weren't processed. So after calling again this afternoon and getting nothing but answering machines they finally called me back and said they had to call the lab to see if they still had my blood sample because they had lost it, so if the lab doesn't have it I have to take the entire 3 hr test all over again. Ugh. End rant.

I would be pissed! I'm so thankful that my lab results get posted online.
  • Eating healthier always sounds like a diet to me...... @KarasTwin. I guess it doesn't have to be but limiting caloric intake is a lot of work and I associate that with dieting....... I know no one likes weight gain talks on here but to share I've gained not too much for a typical pregnancy but more than my doc recommends due to starting out at 187 lb........... Frick what are ya going to do. Id like to start walking more when these f ing headaches go away. Good luck to you..... Annoying OB's lol
  • Frustrated because I'm 31 weeks pregnant, and boyfriend and I still need:
    -apartment
    -car
    -insurance for baby
-solid savings for my zero-pay maternity leave

I'm so unbelievably stressed with all of this, ontop of LO measuring small enough that I now have weekly growth U/S and the sad reality that I HAVE to work up until labor, even though my body is telling me I shouldn't be. :(

Something that may give you some help with the insurance thing - my husband's insurance policy will cover DD for up to 30 days after she's born before she has to have her own set up. If you or your boyfriend have insurance, call your provider because they may have a similar set up. Afterwards, you could apply for CHIP, the insurance for kids that the government provides. To my knowledge it's either free or very low cost. Might be a good solution for you!

I've been laying here sleepless since 5. Not because of anything pregnancy related, but because the psychotic a-hole in the apartment above us insists on stomping, dragging, dropping, and moving whatever he can get his hands on RIGHT ABOVE OUR HEADS. It's absolutely deafening and happens almost every night. FI finally said something to him the other night and he apologized and it stopped for two nights and now here we are again. It's so bad that this person is honestly making us consider moving. We moved to this town because it is supposed to be quiet (dry town) and managed to end up living below the only drug dealing parolee in a 5 mile radius. I just want to sleep!!

So frustrated with my DH. He's a teacher so he's on his feet all day. I know he's tired when he gets home but so am I after lugging around my huge belly and chasing our 1.5 year old son. On top of that I've had searing back pain for a month and pelvic congestion which makes just walking extremely painful. He knows I'm in a lot of pain but still won't do anything to help me unless I ask. Then he has the nerve to say that he's tired and to ask me what I do all day. OMG sometimes I could just kill him!
  • @laurendutch I wish my office did that! I will find out this morning if they found them. I tried to call the coordinator but got her voicemail... of course.

Someone has resurrected the damned weight thread. :-w

Haha! I saw that this morning!
  • We have a cleaning lady coming today to clean our house before we photograph it to list tomorrow. She hasn't texted me back. Last time she was 55 mins late and then didn't clean certain things she always does.

Now I'm worried that she's not going to be able to come or that we'll be stuck doing a deep clean today when it was something we wanted to pay someone for.

Also, my cat has been throwing up every day after eating dry food and I have to take her to the vet today. Poor girl! :-(
  • Ugh. DH went out with a friend last night who's going through a bad time. No problem, especially since he's pretty much completely stopped going out since I've been pregnant because I can't go with him. The problem occurred when he fell asleep at said friend's house unintentionally and his phone died. Leaving me with no clue as to where he was/if he was okay, so of course I couldn't fall asleep and was up worried all night. He finally rolls in at 530 this morning and says "damn you're still awake?!" Then lays down and falls back asleep......so now I have literally been up all night long with no sleep. I have a doctors appointment in a couple hours anddddd I have to work immediately following my appointment until 9PM. I work from home luckily, but still. As if I'm not already tired enough all the time. Now I'm running on zero sleep for one of the very few long days I have. So frustrating. I almost want to leave for my appointment without him while he's still asleep....
  • Sorry about your kitty cat @Westypet - hope its just some indigestion or a food intolerance or something.

  • I just wanted to thank @Mommaswizz for her post on that weight thread. If I could love it 5 times, I would. I just didn't want to post on it (again!) and bring it back to the top again.

It IS kinda scary how well it remains organized tho, and the rest of the board is such a scatter. Weird...

  • Seriously, are doctors always freaking late? I had to switch to an OB office when my midwives "merged" with them. The original midwives I loved, started up their own birthing center and since I'm high risk and prefer to birth in a hospital, this is my option. I've been waiting 30 min so far....ugh I miss my midwives and their personal care.
