I lost my mucus plug. Is it still safe to insert evening primrose oil???

I had my 40 wk check up yesterday and my ob did a membrane sweep. She told me I would experience some stopping but nothing happened. Seeing as how I'm now restless and ready for baby I went and purchased some epo. I inserted them instead of taking them orally of course because orally would take two weeks before they're effective. Well 2am my mucus plug fell out!!!
