Pregnant after 35

Ugh. Can I please sleep without pain??

12:51am here. I've been in bed since 9. My lovely toddler who still refuses her bed is asleep next to me. I fell asleep easily. Woke up almost 2 hrs ago. Everything hurts! I lay here at night and my hips just ache. If I have to get up to pee or get water or whatever.. I can't make it down the hall without hanging onto doors and the wall or whatever because my sciatic pain is so bad. This RLP is killing me too. My entire lower abdomen is just achy all the time. I took a Tylenol but minimal relief.

Boo! I'm only 30 weeks.

  • :(  That sounds miserable.  :(  No advice, just hoping you get some good rest and pain relief soon.

  • Wow, what a drag. That sucks so bad. I'm hoping you get some comfortable (comfortable for a 30 week pregnant lady, anyway) rest soon

  • Thank you. It is!! Still awake. 1:57 am now. Yay! Lol. Ice hasn't helped. Heat hasn't helped. I keep drinking water to try to make the campiness/ache go away but I'm drinking 60-70oz a day and it still hurts. I don't think it's preterm labor cramping. It just feels sore. Like pulled muscle sore. My hip is mostly the left. My back doesn't hurt even tho I know that's where it's stemming from. It's my left hip/butt cheek! Sharp shooting pain.

And for some reason I keep getting this sharp sporadic pain in my right boob. Lol. I don't know what that's about.

  • Sorry to hear about the pain and that you're not getting quality sleep. :( Do you have a recliner you could try sleeping instead? Or is the pain the same if you are sitting?
  • how is your mattress?  Good quality and in good shape?  Is it a firm or plush?  Cuz, let me tell you this:  I have spent years sleeping on junk.  This horrible super firm, cheap, very cheap, mattress.  It never was comfortable...never.  After only a couple years it went from uncomfortable to feeling like it was 100 years old.  When it got real bad my husband even abandoned it and would sleep in an extra bed in another room all the time.  Then the foundation, box spring piece absolutely collapsed one night, just caved in.  So I had to throw that out and put the mattress on the floor.  It went from horrible to even more horrible.  Plus there was a plumbing issue in the master bath and my husband had to cut into the wall through the bedroom to access pipes and he never fixed the drywall so there was this hole that came up from the crawlspace and air from outside came in...when it was -15 degrees outside...air would be rushing in.

So last month I finally got my husband to buy a mattress.  Got a top of the line plush.  It has the gel and foam and springs...basically its all the best of each matrress type combined to make it super.  My hip pain went from where I could not sleep for more than 1/2 hour and would wake up in pain enough to bring tears to my eyes.  I would roll over....1/2 hour later be in pain.  All night long.  IN the morning I could not walk fully upright and had to limp to keep too much weight off my hips.  Now I could lay on one side all night long and not have a single bit of pain.  None.  I can wake up and walk.  It has made such a difference I can not even believe it.

Plus my husband is no longer too good to sleep in here now that the junk mattress is gone!  So he fixed the drafts and stuff because he would not put up with that for himself.

  • I feel so so about our mattress. We bought it when I had our son in 2008. We paid 2k for it. It's a pillow top. We went to the best store around. Neither of us are impressed with how it's worn. We flip it. Turn it. And it just hasn't worn well. My hubby can't sleep in it at all. He says it's too soft. He has a really bad back and it hurts. So he sleeps on the couch. I think it does contribute to our pain

We really want a sleep number. But I can't afford it right now.

  • Total drag! Pregnancy is no picnic, especially at the end. It sucks you're dealing with this pain. Sounds like you could use a massage.

I empathize and think these last couple uncomfortable/downright painful months are dragging.

  • supersarah77  that's a fantastic idea. lol  I had one when I was pregnant with my son and it was the best!  I don't think I've ever been that comfortable.  I do want to plan a spa day when it gets a little closer so I can get a pedicure and get my hair done so a massage would fit perfectly into that. :)

The pain certainly does suck. It just makes it more difficult to get anything done!

  • For the past few pregnancies I have swore I was going to go get a pedicure during one of my last weeks of pregnancy.  I have never had one but knew it would be nice and I wouldn't have to try to paint my own toe nails in the contorted way I do so they still look nice in the end of my pregnancies!  I never have done it, however.  I have too many kids to take care of and knew my husband would NOT approve of me spending his money on something like that.  This time I am not even going to kid myself and say I am going to do it!

Not going to spend "his" money on it? I hope that you consider it your money too, and that you're worth a little splurge at the end of your pregnancy. I think you earned it! I, for one, am going to get my hair done and toes looking fab this weekend so at least part of me is looking fab when I deliver in a couple weeks :)
