Medela vs ameda

I am trying to decide between ordering the medela pump in style advanced breast pump or the ameda purely yours ultra. Has anyone used either of these pumps? Which would you recommend?

Re: Medela vs ameda

  • I haven't used one yet, but I ordered the In Style after I kept hearing positive reviews, both from friends and reviews online (babiesrus.com).

  • I would go with medela b/c it is easier to get replacement parts in target/walmart/bru in a pinch.

  • Medela for sure. I have the Ameda purely yours and although it gets the job done I absolutely looooved the Medela one I used in the hospital much more.
  • Medela PISA. Nothing but positive reviews on this one.
  • I got the purely yours. The lactation nurse recommended it over the medela bc of mold issues. I havent tried either one yet
  • Medela. I never used the Ameda but loved my Medela.

  • Just got Medela and I'm very pleased with it. I bought the bra so you are hands free while pumping and I'm so happy
  • I got the medela. The other pumps parts need to be ordered online, at least where I'm at they don't sell replacements parts for it in any of the stores
  • I wouldn't buy a medela because it's an open system. The Ameda is more hygienic.

  • I love my Medela PISA. My insurance sent me an Amedea Purely Yours this pregnancy, but I doubt I will use it.

  • I have both the Medela and the Ameda. I prefer the Ameda. I am able to get double the amount of milk in the same time period. My LC recommended it after I was having a hard time with Medela. She says Medela has better advertising, so the name is more widely known. however, with her clients they have had better success with Ameda, plus it is a closed system. I have had no issue getting the parts I need.
