Ella or Claire?

Having a girl after two boys. These two names are still leftover favorites of ours from when we were Team Green with #1 seven years ago. Last name is a bit of a three-syllable Hawaiian mouthful, so we tend to go simple for the first name.

Brothers are No.ah and O.wen

Middle name will be Hawaiian, possibly Noelani but open to suggestions depending on the meaning! Our boys mn are simple Hawaiian names as a nod to the fact they are 1/4 hawaiian, but we are ok with her mn being a little more "out there" (more traditional Hawaiian) since she likely won't always carry the last name! (I love Ella Claire as a fn/mn combo -- but love our mn tradition more)

I love them both. BUT, Ella is trendy right now, while Claire is more classic and timeless. For that reason I would choose Claire. I also think it is best with your sibset.

Love Claire! I prefer Etta to Ella just because it's not so common.

I prefer Ella, but is more popular right now. If the popularity facto doesn't bother you, go with that!

Claire is less popular as a first name than Ella, right now. I also really like the sound of a one syllable first name with a last name of 3 or more syllables.

Thanks guys. Claire is our top choice too, but Ella is a close 2nd and the seven year old has been lobbying HARD for us to use it. So, I wanted to put it back in the running. Still not quite there though. @brita722 thanks for the list, I love exploring all the options for a middle name!

We did consider Clara but I didn't like it, which makes no sense, bc it DOES seem like a great compromise.
