Any tips on getting babe to move during an ultrasound?

I just switched doctors 3 weeks ago because I had to move for my job. They did a scan to see how far along I was because my last ob was a jerk and pretty much refused to send the records because I wouldn't be having my baby with them. Anyway, the tech tried to peak at what babe was but all my bean did was wave then cross it's legs. I go back tomorrow for my level two scan and I've been DYING with anticipation to finally know what my bean is. Anyone heard of any tricks to make the baby move around a little so we can avoid leg crossing?

Turn on your side that helped mine move and gave us a potty shot, i also drank apple juice about 20 minutes before...he was still pretty lazy in there lol but he did move when i changed positions
  • This happened to me yesterday midwife had me jumping up and down bouncing on the chair baby still wouldn't move some babies are just stuborn lol
  • My ultrasound tech stated we should eat a spoonfull of peanut butter 30 mins before the ultrasound for our 20 week. I had eaten a breakfast sandwich on a bagel and orange juice and hour before our 12 week and the baby was hyper and flipping like mad. Thankfully he/she fell asleep which allowed us to get the NT part after she had done other stuff while my baby was dancing in there but she suggested since the bagel turns to sugar and orange juice is full of sugar to try something more complex like peanut butter- high protein, fat and some sugar.
  • I would try some orange juice before the appointment. Also, at my elective US, the baby wasn't cooperating so the tech had me move from side to side and shook my belly a little and he started moving. Good luck!
  • I had a cherry limeade before and when I when in he was still lazy. But I start poking my stomach and he began to kick like crazy

    Pregnancy Ticker
  • I will be using some of these ideas before my appintment in 2 weeks! Ekkkk
  • I had a juice box before mine and when the tech showed me my baby he/she was doing a jig
  • My tech pushed on my stomach to wake him up
  • I've heard eating chocolate before your appointment helps really well but I have not tried it since my little nugget was so active at my U/S that I asked the tech if it was a fake ultrasound or was that really my baby. Good luck!
  • Ive always heard caffiene, i know its not good for baby though. My ultrasound is next week and im worried about this also!
  • I drank ice cold water 15 min before I mean chugged and chugged ice cold water and baby was super active.
  • I had water with some pomegranate juice mixed in. I don't usually drink much other than water so the sugar in the pom juice had baby very active and cooperative. By the end of my ultrasound she decided it was time for a nap. Her sugar high was gone!
  • My baby literally would not stop burrowing into my placenta so my tech pushed on my belly where she was until she moved around
  • A good sneeze or cough did the trick when my baby needed to turn for my first trimester scan. Also the US tech bounced my belly a little bit LOL.
  • I ate an orange before bed this week.. baby wouldn't stop moving lol. 15 weeks and loving the flutters
  • The tech had me roll on my side multiple times... Drink juice... We were there 2 hours... We had to come back 5 days later bc they couldn't get measurements at my first NT scan. Someone mentioned drinking Mountain Dew. I had maybe 1/2 cup of Mountain Dew while we waited in the waiting room and when we got back for the U/S the baby was really active. Yes, you shouldn't overdue the caffeine but it was only a small amount and it worked....
  • Someone on here suggested a slurpee from 7-11 for the sugar haha, and I fully intended to do it, but there wasn't a gas station or 7-11 anywhere near the ultrasound place. Then once we signed in, we still had to wait for 2 hours to be seen! So I was literally starving and sooo thirsty and worried that baby wouldn't be awake...but she was! She was swinging her little fists and kicking her feet, it was adorable. Good luck!!
  • We had an uncooperative baby twice. . Didn't move a bunch and crossed her legs. I tried coffee the first time and juice and candy the 2nd and neither seemed to do anything. Honestly i think if your babies going to be stubborn they're going to be stubborn. Doing some sit ups is what seemed to get her moving the most.. oo and i brought ice freezing cold water with me and the tech had me chug some of that during the 2nd one. . She def didn't like that haha. . Made her move but not uncross her legs
  • Thanks ladies I know what baby is through blood tests I will have 20 week ultrasound next month I will use some of these tricks
  • Unfortunately none of them worked! The tech hit on my belly and babe just brushed it off and went back to just chilling. I guess SHE is just a lazy baby!!
